Maybe his mother died in childbirth and his father was never around or actually LEFT Rumple. If so, it would make motherhood a really noble endeavor in Rumple’s mind as well as being a good father. So when Milah becomes like she was in “The Crocodile” it’s a real slap in the face because Rumple was a good papa Pre-Dark One and Milah loved her son, but did leave him, something that happened to Rumple so he understood it. And then he went and did exactly what his father did. Oh man. Issues, guys. Issues.
I know!!! It’s also ironic, in a way Nealfire and Emma have repeated the same history too. Nealfire thought that Emma had to be alone to fulfill her destiny which lead to her giving up Henry for adoption despite the fact that I know she didn’t want to. 😥
Now I really want to know who Rumple’s father is and what issues there were and to see if there’s some kind of pattern going on with Rumple’s family line that hopefully Henry won’t repeat. (I really love the idea that he’s a famous fairy tale character too since it could possibly introduce a new world or worlds like if he were from The Wizard of Oz per chance.)
What if Rumple’s father is the Cowardly Lion from Wizard of Oz because the people I know or read their blogs, compare Rumple with the Lion, so his father could be the real Cowardly Lion from Oz. I want to know who Rum’s father is too and the spinsters that raised Rum when he was younger.

Something random and sort of out there that just popped into my head…in the Disney version of Sleeping Beauty, she was taken away by the three good fairies who raised her until her 16th birthday. Those fairies couldn’t be these spinsters, could they? In the movie, one of them was dressed in blue…like I said, it’s a random, crackpot theory…but how perfectly messed up would it be if Blue was one of three fairies who raised Rumple as a child after he lost both his parents.

Missing pieces…like the fact that Baelfire is Henry’s father. Set up for the shock of Rumple’s life perhaps.

That’d be ironically delicious, considering how much Mr. Gold loathes the BF now!

Exactly! Imagine if she’d helped to raise him, and then they ended up as mortal enemies. Would add a whole other level to their animosity.

To add to this: in the movie Sleeping Beauty believed herself to be an orphan. If the fairies are raising orphans, like Rumple, it could give more credence to the fact that it was the BF who got Henry Jr to SB and to Gold who then got him to Regina. Once again, she’s just doing what she had been doing in FTL.

So, the fairies (like nuns often are in our world) could be the guardians of orphans. Perhaps Tinker Belle found Baelfire, a de factor orphan after Rumple let go of him, and brought him to Neverland. There is a similar plot line in the movie Hook in which Tinker Belle brought Peter Pan, a lost child, to live in Neverland as a little boy. Hook is such a great movie.
I’ve often thought that the BF was also Tinkerbell (in my mind it makes very little sense to introduce yet another Fairy when you have the BF who can stand in for so many). If that bean did take Neal to Neverland, then she would be like Tinkerbell. And I’ve often wondered if the BF has been traveling between worlds for some time now. She could be the reason why Neal was both in Neverland and then our world."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"February 13, 2013 at 7:21 pm #173037timothyjlarsonParticipanthttps://twitter.com/OnceABC/status/301772386477424642/photo/1
