As you know, I was at Paleyfest yesterday, and they previewed the first 10 minutes of “The Miller’s Daughter” for us. It looks really good! Here are some spoilers for you:
Cora is indeed the miller’s daugher. We see her with a rather drunken looking father. She delivers flour to the castle. A princess trips her and then claims she just fell and that Cora ruined her shoes. The king makes Cora get down on her knees and appologize. The princess is very snooty. The king says her name is Eva- so I assume this is likely Snow’s mom, although she certainly doesn’t act like the woman we met in “The Queen is Dead.” There is a prince too- Prince Henry. If he is Eva’s brother and is indeed Regina’s father…Regina and Snow are cousins!
The next scene is Regina and Cora. Regina comments that their plan will not work now because the Charmings know they have the dagger and Henry would be able to trace the blame to them. They are tapping the phone listening to a conversation between Emma and Snow and discover Rumple is injured. (There is a very funny moment when Cora knocks the device off the desk and says “I don’t like what the enchanted box is saying!”) They look at the dagger and realize he is more than just injured, he is dying. His name is disappearing from the dagger. Cora says they must change their plans…she is going to stab Rumple and become the dark one. If Rumple dies on his own, the dark magic just desolves. Regina questions her mom’s motives.
Then we are back to young Cora. She is at a costume ball in a fancy dress with a mask. She dances with the king, but he recognizes her- she has telltale straw on her. She claims that she can spin straw into gold but she won’t give him a share of it now. He announces to the whole room that if she can do this, she will marry Prince Henry. If not, she will die. And there we have the original Rumplestiltskin tale!

This is going to be incredible, I can tell already just from reading your description. I’m guessing most of the sneak-peeks will be clips from the first 10 minutes, so I don’t feel too spoiled by reading your wonderful summary.

Finally, Regina is waking up to the truth! I just hope she or Snow can take out Cora first! I don’t want to see an even darker Cora than the witch we know already.

My money is still on George being Regina’s biodad, the result of an affair after Cora marries Henry. Love that they’re giving Cora and Eva an old rivalry. Must have really aggravated Cora when Eva went on to marry another royal and continued to have everything, while Cora and Henry lost their own royal standing. It can be infuriating to see someone you think is a horrible person end up being rewarded, and it certainly sounds like Young Eva was kinda horrible to her.

😥
Cora says they must change their plans…she is going to stab Rumple and become the dark one.
😮 Knowing that they now plan to actually stab Rumple, I’m liking the theory even more that Snow could use the candle to save him. I mean, if he’s lying there dying, and Nealfire is there, (we know he’s part of the fight in the shop) all distraught, it fits that Snow would save him. She didn’t use it to save her parent, and she’s currently regretting her past actions, so I could easily see her using it to save Nealfire’s parent, (and Henry’s grandparent). And if Cora’s becoming the new Dark One, then killing her via candle is the ideal way to stop her and have no one else inherit the Dark One curse.
Then we are back to young Cora. She is at a costume ball in a fancy dress with a mask. She dances with the king, but he recognizes her- she has telltale straw on her. Eeeeeek, we’ve been waiting for so long for this! So in the Onceiverse version, it’s the miller’s daughter who offers herself up, not her father doing it for her. Guess she saw it as a ticket out of her miserable life with a drunk for a dad.
Dammit, they’re gonna try and make us feel bad for Cora in this ep. Sympathy for the devil. 👿

Excellent. Cousins, step mother and daughter….

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Best line ever? Cora will take his magic. Yeah, I saw that coming. Enter Snow and her magic candle???!
I refuse to feel sorry for Cora. She’s lying to the King to get ahead. She hasn’t even met Rumple yet. So no. No sympathy for Cora.

Confused on one thing. If Eva and Henry Sr were siblings, wouldn’t King Leopold (having married Eva) recognized Henry Sr and possibly Cora when he and Snow first met Regina?
March 4, 2013 at 7:03 pm #177010RumplesGirlKeymasterOh. That’s a good point.

*sigh* Ok, so Eva was a little brat who mistreated Cora. Why every villain in this show need to have a sad/harsh/mistreatment background? I mean for once can’t a baddy just be evil for the sake of it?
March 4, 2013 at 7:10 pm #177015RumplesGirlKeymasterI agree with you Ser_Dragon, but I don’t think it’s going to make me feels sorry for Cora. It’s just one moment of her being treated badly, and while it’s terrible, it’s not like with Rumple where every flashback of his lately has been to make him more sympathetic. From what AngieBelle is describing, Cora lies her way to the top, manipulates, and brought a lot of this on herself. So I’m trying to not have sympathy for Cora based on one scene.

See I don’t understand this why then was Eva’s Kingdom not in debt, but Henry’s was I don’t by the fact that they are related in anyway. I think Henry lost his kingdom and Eva which I believe is a separate kingdom survive and Cora was jealous of this fact but I could be wrong. 😕
