Tonight we met another character in Oz lore (ok, technically two if you count the Lion). What did you think of Stanum and Zelena’s friendship?

Even a throw away line that established they had been good friends for a long time after their first meeting would’ve helped. I an assume that they became good friends after that and spent time together, but that’s just my assumption. Otherwise, they just met one time, and he expects the WICKED Witch of the West to want to help him?
It was fun to meet the Tin Man and see him with young Zelena, but their friendship was REALLY under developed. I felt the same way. It was super under developed because they went from meeting to him begging for help.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"I can’t believe they didn’t finish his story, I was expecting Zelena to return to OZ (since she seems to be able to travel there without a problem) find the statue of Stanum and put the heart in his chest. This would have made the flashbacks at least relevant and even more then Zelena and Robyn could have stayed in OZ and Zelena and Stanum could have continued their friendship and she could have made other friendships. This would have tied up Zelena’s story line perfectly. We are not moving at a very fast pace to tie up all the loose ends if they are planing on rebooting or ending the series.

I don’t think it would make sense for her to expect to have a future in Oz since she was just back there ruling last season when she put Dorothy to sleep, right? If she actually went to Oz to get the Crimson Heart (or did she just pull the object through ala Jefferson’s hat with the poisoned apple?), she didn’t bother to bring the Tin Man back with her to finally save him? What good is the heart doing in a box? I agree, it would have made her redemption more complete. I almost wonder if there was a cut scene. Zelena even said to Stanum, “Maybe Dorothy will come back and save you.” It would have been very OUAT-esque for Zelena to be the one to come back and save him in her “redemption” episode.
I was surprised that they never un-tinned Stanum. The flashback wasn’t the greatest, but leaving him rusting in the forest felt weird. Maybe they were intimating that he’ll be un-rusted by Dorothy and her oilcan someday like in the movie. The flashbacks for OZ are a bit of a jumble to me so I can’t recall if Dorothy can even do what Dorothy is supposed to do and take the Tin Man, the now cowardly (thanks to Zelena) Lion and the Scarecrow (didn’t Zelena kill him already?) to see the Wizard (who Zelena has already deposed)? Nevermind. I think this was just a nod to the movie with the tin man and the cowardly lion.

That makes sense. I doesn’t really make sense that she would be powerful enough to create an actual portal with her own magic since she couldn’t in 5×01, although this episode seemed to insinuate she could. Or maybe fairy crystals coupled with powerful enough magic can open portals now too (rolls eyes lol)
What did you think of Stanum and Zelena’s friendship?
The flashback of them of kids wasn’t enough to really establish their relationship. Id like to know why they stopped being friends. He makes it seem like they were really close. Did she leave him behind when she went off to see the wizard, and never returned because she eventually went to see Rump and then became the wicked witch? I’m guessing. I am also going to assume Dorothy helped the poor dude out, since we know this takes place more than likely on the same day or before Dorothy arrives back in Oz and Zelena meets Hades. Id hate to think Stanum is still trapped there over all these years. Also, did he say he was turned to tin by Wicked Witch Of The North? Uh….who is she and why is she a thing?
But Stanum seems like a pretty solid dude. 😛
I actually think he had a thing for Zelena….but just didn’t have the heart to tell her. 😛 Hes probably been out of the dating game so long that now hes a little rusty. 😛 He probably would have gotten that heart if hed worked up the courage to axe her out. 😛
