ParticipantOh come on… why does everyone hate DS9? I liked it. It got especially good once they introduced the Dominion.

ParticipantEnjoyed DS9 myself. So far, my favourite Star Trek movie is The Voyage Home, but I did enjoy J J Abrams reboot with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto. Can’t wait for the next one.

ParticipantI really like TNG. I really like the science they put behind their story lines. DS9 was ok, but for me it tended to venture away from the “boldly go where no one has gone before” objective I was used to. Still not bad, though. It was a lot better when Worf was added to the show.
Definitely love the Voyage home. My favorites are Voyage Home, and Undiscovered Country. Much as I liked TNG though, I never cared for it’s movies.
Favorite TNG episodes: “The Inner Light” and “Reunification” (parts 1 and 2)

ParticipantThird generation trekkie, my second crush was on Wesley Crusher (he’s only a few years older than me so it’s not THAT weird). TNG is still my favorite, though I really enjoyed some of the characters on DS9 and Voyager and loved Enterprise. Some of my earliest writing was Trek fanfic. I’ve a couple uniforms hanging in my closet (DS9 era shirt and a TOS dress) that I put together.

There were some select episodes I enjoyed, when they traveled back in time and did the Trouble with Tribbles episode. That was good. On the whole, I think it depends on your preferences. What sets DS9 apart from the other Star Trek series was that — it was less science and more character-driven drama.
Again for me, it was like watching a soap opera in space and I watch soap operas. People either love that or hate it.

ParticipantI’m not really a huge Star Trek/Star Wars fan like a lot of other people. I’m a bit rebellious and I think part of me has always hated how ridiculously popular they are. They’re like the go to franchises every time someone on any podcast I listen to wants to compare a movie or TV show to something and I always feel like, “Can’t you guys reference something that DOESN’T have the word Star in it?” I’m starting to see that a lot with Lost as well. It’s always, “This is just like that thing in Lost!” ALL THE TIME. It annoys me a little bit.
That said though, I did used to watch a lot of TNG episodes and I liked the JJ Abrams Star Trek movie too so I’m not a total hater (and I’ve seen all five seasons of Lost as well and think it was a great show that unfortunately had a lousy series finale). So TNG is really the extent of my Star Trek fandom
On a side note, as someone who watched a lot of TNG I geeked out a bit when I used to watch Disney’s Gargoyles back in high school and recognized many of the voice actors as people who were on TNG
