It’s awesome that JJ gets to direct but I wouldn’t like to see the next movie be about where are Han, Leia and Luke now. I mean, have you read the New Jedi Order? That series was all over the place. One bad book, 2 good books, more bad writing, more good writing.

So, after he was half way turning Star Trek into Star Wars, Abrams will get a chance to turn Star Wars a bit into Star Trek 😆
Just kidding. He is a great director for that kind of action stuff and still manages to put some good drama into it. Something to look forward too, indeed.

    ¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯

To be honest, I don’t think we need anymore movies. And this is coming from a big SW fan when the prequels were a big deal.

No. It needs to end where it is. They should just make books, comics, video games, and cartoons. Leave the rest alone.

I’d never seen a SW movie the whole way through until I met my ex. He was SW obsessed, so I got sucked into the movies a bit by default, and ended up really enjoying them. Even as someone who doesn’t have the lifelong emotional attachment with the movies that so many people have, I’ve gotta say they should leave well enough alone, and think that making any more will be overkill and unnecessary. Abrams is either brave or stupid to be taking this task on.

But then, I don’t believe that poor JarJar, bless his heart, deserves to burn in the firey pit of hell, so what do I know. 😆

I think it’s appropriate that we’re discussing Star Wars here because both Star Wars and Once Upon A Time are perfect examples of modern retellings of timeless mythological themes. As Dooley Wilson so clearly reminded us with the lyrics of As Time Goes By ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vThuwa5RZU) in Casablanca:

“It’s still the same old story.
A fight for love and glory.”

And of course, Casablanca itself remains another example of retelling those classic themes (and one of my favorites, as you can tell!).

I’m ambivalent about the idea of more Star Wars movies. Part of me likes the idea of a story well told which reaches a good conclusion and just leaves us with a beautiful memory (like Casablanca.) On the other hand, if the story was really good, part of me always wants to see more.

So I’d like to see more movies IF they do them well and evoke that same magic the first ones did. But that’s very hard to do. It’s the same way with Once Upon A Time; I hope the show runs a long time because I enjoy it so much and will really miss not seeing it anymore, but then I wonder how many years they can keep up the creative levels we have seen. Seeing the show “jump the shark” and descend into bad writing would be more painful than losing it all together. But let’s hope they keep up the good writing long enough to show us the adventures of Henry’s grandchildren!

Now I’m reading that the new movies might focus on the Solo children, Jaina, Jacen and Anakin.. I would have been excited about this when I was still a SW fan and an avid NJO reader, but I was hoping for something a little more original.
