Snow, who was quite used to animals talking to her nodded and asked if she could have a banana and Nutella crepe.

    The rat got to work.

Meanwhile, Rumple and Belle made their way to Granny’s:

“What do you plan on doing about the enchanted toaster?” Belle asked
“If Emma is knocked unconscious it should end.”
“You’re not beating Emma with your cane.”
    “But…”
    “No!”

Having reached Granny’s the two walked into the kitchen where they saw Emma holding a struggling toaster and Granny with a rolling pin.

“Well maybe I won’t have to do anything” Rumpel said optimistic. Unfortunately Granny went after the toaster, rather than Emma. And of course it got away again. shouting: “Arise ye prisoners of starvation. Be free to get toasted.

(Can I just say this is the most fun I had in weeks)

Emma threw up her hands in frustration and a white light shot out of her hands. Suddenly, the other toasters in the kitchen sprang to life.

“I hate all of you” said Granny.

(Spinning Gold, Me too! You guys are amazing!)

“Stay together,” the original brave little toaster admonished. “They can’t get all of us at once!”

“Belle…” Rumple pleaded. “Not a chance,” was her reply.

Granny emerged from the back room with her crossbow. “Okay, who wants to go first?”

One by one, the toasters fell into a crude formation. They seemed prepared to fight for their freedom. Belle crept around the back of them, holding a loaf of bread. Her intent was clear.

“Come little ones. Look what I have got for you. Nice and yummy fresh bread. Come on, who wants some.” Belle’s sing-song voice had them all enchanted. And so was Rumpel. He turned into putty when she was being seductive like this.

“Mmmmmm bread” the toasters murmurred in unison.

Eagerly the toasters suddenly broke formation and hopped over to Belle. Quickly, she put the slices of bread into the slots and pushed the down button.

“There! See, all they wanted was a job to do. No violence necessary,” the last thing was said directly at Rumple. But then she noticed Rumple’s soft eyes staring at her and her heart melted.

“ANYWAY!” said Emma trying to break the Rumbelle spell, “I gotta get back to my house. My kid is alone with this grandparents. That almost never ends well.”

“Wait,” said Granny as Emma, Rumple and Belle turned to leave “what am I supposed to do with all this toast!?”

    “Free breakfast?” Emma replied.

The trio walked out the door and Granny resigned herself to giving out free toast.

    Meanwhile, back at the Charmings…

“My god, Remy, these crepes are amazing!” Snow uttered.

“Remy knows, madame.” the rat nodded.

“Charming, you should really taste this.” Snow tried

“I’m not eating ratfood!” he shouted, still perched high on his chair.

“Gramps, I’m eating it,” encouraged Henry, holding out his hand. “Come down and try some.”

“Oui, oui, mon prince.” Remy wheedled. “Zey are tres magnifique!”

Emma, Rumple and Belle burst through the door. Seeing Charming up on the chair, and Snow and Henry eating crepes served by a rat in a chef’s hat, they stopped in their tracks.

“What the heck is going on here? I’m gone for ten minutes..” Emma looked like she wanted to go back to bed.

“What happened to the toaster?” Henry wanted to know. The others looked interested as well.

“Belle saved the day,” said Rumple proudly. Henry looked at Belle with admiration.

“Oh it was nothing,” said Belle “Are those crepes?”

“Oh oui mademoiselle! For ooo, I shall make one, yes?” said Remy the Rat.

“Belle, I’ll make you crepes at home if you want,” said Rumple his eyes suggesting that breakfast was the last thing on his mind.

Stiffling a giggle, Belle grabbed Rumple’s hand and they darted out the door.

Emma, relived that things seemed to be quieting down, was surprised when the phone rang.

“It’s Regina,” said Snow looking at Emma. “Something about her mops coming to life?”
