Once has introduced so many characters in only 2 Seasons, but this has resulted in several storylines that can and should be further explored. Here are the storylines I would personally like to see expanded upon:
1. An origin story with King George and his wife. All we know is that George’s wife was cursed to never have children, so they had to resort to making a deal with Rumple for one of Ruth’s sons. Perhaps there is more to this story.
2. This is also related to King George, but it would be nice to see how he lost his kingdom to Snow and Charming. Obviously we know that Snow and Charming are successful, and Charming spared George’s life. It is likely Lancelot was still among them when this showdown occurred, so he too would have further character development
3. Well I mentioned Lancelot already, so might as well suggest that we see an origin story of his time serving King Arthur’s Knights of the Round Table.
4. I would like to see how Cinderella and Snow White met. We saw hints that they knew each other prior to the Cinderella’s wedding, and it would be nice to see Cinderella’s character more fleshed out in general.
5. Jefferson is a character who I really feel has been taken for granted by the writers. Following his initial appearance in “Hat Trick”, Jefferson and his hat have mainly just been used as a plot device. In “An Apple Red as Blood” he is merely used just to get Regina’s apple, in “A Land Without Magic” he is randomly used to free Belle, in “Broken” his hat is used to start off the whole “Emma and Snow trapped in the Enchanted Forrest storyline”, and in “The Doctor” he is used to tie Victor Frankenstein into the story. At least in “Lady of the Lake” we see him re-unite with his daughter, and in “The Doctor” we at least saw how he and Regina met. Jefferson has potential as a really interesting character, and there is definitely more to be explored with him. I would love to see how Jefferson got the hat in the first place, how he started working for Rumple, his time spent in OZ, and how he lost his wife.
6. I’m sure we’re all dying to see Hook’s time in Neverland. Pretty self explanatory.
7. Mulan has to be one of the most underdeveloped characters so far, so one story that would be nice to explore his Once’s take on her very own original story. The original story, of course, is how she impersonated a soldier in the army.
8. We’ve heard so many times about how Rumple was a coward during the Ogre War, and how he ran away from battle. It would be nice to actually see this story for ourselves, along with how he and Millah met. Millah claims she never “loved him”, but the question is why did she marry him to begin with?
9. We know that Grumpy attempted to win back Nova, and was therefore imprisoned in King George’s castle. It would still be nice to see how this story actually played out with our own eyes.
10. Aurora’s story is definitely something that needs to be explored. We have yet to see her character interact with Maleficent onscreen, for one. It has been stated by Adam and Eddie that Aurora’s mother was the original Sleeping Beauty that Regina referred to in “The Thing You Love Most”, so that is also something that would be neat to see. There is also Aurora and Mulan’s quest to bring Phillip back, which I’m hoping will be seen by the end of Season 2.
11. What the heck happened to August? We all want to know what happened to August since he apparently woke up, and it makes no sense why he completely disappeared. I would even like to see more of August’s past, as there are a few unsolved questions concerning that too.

From all of the suggestions you’ve mentioned I’d really love to see Jefferson’s story, he’s such an interesting character!

That is something I really did intend on including, but it slipped my mind. It has been added to my original post!

I want to see them do more with his character. I do kinda feel like I’ve been let down a lot by the show, and it’s making me cautious before I get too excited about what they’re doing (or what I think they’re doing), and so right now I’m sort of teeter-tottering on the edge between being optimistic, or just resigning to disappointment. We’ll see what happens.
Honestly, I’d like for them to stop bringing in more new people for a while. Things are just moving by too fast for me to really see any stories develop from what they’re doing because they switch gears before anything can materialize. Sometime in the future though (and I’m talking late next season before I’d be comfortable with it), I’d like to see them introduce King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
As for current characters: I would like to see them make a decision on what happened to August. I want to see more of a focus on Emma, and what life was like for her growing up. She was probably in a lot of foster homes. How much of her past helped to make up who she became?

Something I’ve really been wanting to see as well is the origin story of Rumple’s dagger.

Also a lot more of Jefferson, not only because Alice in Wonderland is my favorite fairytale but because Jefferson has so much potential. Also the return of Maleficent, gosh I was a little dissapointed when they started to get rid of the main characters from Sleeping Beauty, first Maleficent then Prince Philip. I heard somewhere that for the pilot they wanted to kill Charming off but then decided not to. I think they did this to Philip just to see how it would be received but no I do not like it. Hope they find a way to bring him back and I do not mean only in flashbacks.

I think Phillip will be rescued, because why would they even have Cora tell Aurora that Phillip’s soul can be saved? Plus, Aurora and Mulan go off to find a way to save him when we last see them. It wouldn’t have been acknowledged at all if this leads nowhere.

January 27, 2013 at 8:42 am #170194bellaroseParticipantWell I want to find out what happened to August poor little dude got turned into a puppet then disapeard.
Also some more of Jeffersons backstory_ What happened to his wife?, did he have a partner to help him go through the hat?, how he knew who and where Belle was in the first place?
How Cora managed to take over wonderland?
Belle locked up_ Did she have any memories?, was she a mindless druged up puppet locked in a cell?, Did she ever try to escape?, did she make any friends while she was locked away and if she did why hasn’t she told anyone about them to help them escape?Good always wins < That's just what Rumplestiltskin wants you to think Keeper of Belle's Theme Music, The Queen of Hearts Maze, Cora's Missing Heart,Tiny's Golden Harp
January 27, 2013 at 8:45 am #170195GrimmsisterParticipantWhat I am waiting impatiently for is the story of the EVIL fairies. I know it is a theory not everyone is on board with…. yet 😉
One day Blue fairy will explode like the dead star that she is, and try to take world domination- No just kidding!! but something along those lines. I want to see some shades to that shiny blue magic she keeps sending out.And more stories on the dream world and what it is about that…the dreamcatcher, the wraith, the sleeping spell ??? Huh ! what do they mean with that stuff ??
August. Come back please, you’re a doll !
