For the geeks, who like to digg deeper into the worlds of tales, fairy tales, mythology, fantasy, storytelling. The internet offers places to feed our curiosity and help us explore the worlds and things, we’re interested in. Let’s share those places, websites, projects, open courses and more we find and know of.

Making a start with a new free open online course I just found:
Fantasy and Science Fiction: The Human Mind, Our Modern World

Among the readings for this course are the Grimm’s fairy tales, Alice in Wonderland, Dracula, Frankenstein. The course will start on February 3rd 2014 on coursera. Might be a nice way to keep busy while waiting for the second half of the third season. 😉

And mentioned this blog before, but here again, because it is a great starting point to explore fairy tales:
    SurLaLune Fairy Tale Blog

edit: If anyone else here is using Pearltrees – I’ve started to build a pearltree there for this. It is possible there to work on this as a team. You can find the pearltree here: StudyTales

Another interesting free online course for anyone interested in fairy tales.
Fairy Tales: Origins and Evolution of Princess Stories

Goes from Feb. 10th until March 9th – so fits perfectly into the calendar to fill the extra time some might have waiting for the second part of season 3 😉

Great idea with this thread Spoekenkieker!!

I dont have any links to share of the back of my hand Im afraid, I tend to just surf the net when looking for clues. I like SurLaLuna though.

But those courses sounds very interesting will check those out. Thanks!

Because OUaT is about true love, thought this course on Coursera might be interesting for some:
Marriage and the Movies: A History.
No, it’s not about fairy tales. It’s a look on movie history and business and how marriages were portrayed, and why Hollywood might shy away a bit of making movies about marriages (not where just married couples are in a movie, but movies about marriage). Course started 2 weeks ago, but still possible to enroll, it’s free. And it’s done by
Jeanine Basinger, Professor of Film Studies at Wesleyan University, called by some one of the most important film scholar alive (one of her students and graduates of the film studies program at Wesleyan University now working in the bizz: Joss Whedon)
