"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 11, 2013 at 6:55 am #193114eastofthesunParticipantLove Swanfire, their journey is epic and heartbreaking…I hope in the end Swanfire will be proven as undeniable true love and be happy..they deserve to have their family Tallahassee dreams come true… (I hope if we get the triangle of doom!! it is resolved fast 🙁 )
My ideal Swanfire ending scenario: Emma/Bae/Henry in fairytale land in a castle by the beach, a happy loving family of true love, having fun, riding horses, having adventures together!! Showing Henry the skills of a magical warrior princess savior and a realm jumper hero thief!! 😀 One can dream right?? 😉

Thar is how I picture Swanfire as well back in The Enchanted Forest in a castle together Neal/Emma & Henry as a family shooting bow & arrows, swordfighting, riding horses, having adventures with Snow/Charming, Rumple/Belle, Regina/Hook, Red/Whale, The Seven Dwarves, Anton, Blue Fairy, Auroura/Philip, Mulan,
Robin Hood/Marian, Jimney Cricket, Granny, Geppetto, Pinocchio, Hansel & Gretel, Cinderella, etcHey girl can dream right ?
May 12, 2013 at 4:40 am #193314heatherc1275ParticipantI love that so much! I hope they find their happy ending too!
BTW-Someone explain to me why people hate Neal so much because I just don’t get it. EVERYONE on this show has made mistakes in their lives and yet it seems like he’s the one character that people get so hostile about over his errors and can’t forgive him for them. Maybe I’m just stupid but I really do not understand it. Poor guy has suffered through a lot in his life and while he’s not perfect, he’s not a killer or chronic liar. (((Neal))) 😥

I sometimes wonder if it has anything to do with the other roles the actor played–I never saw Terriers or True Blood, but I gathered he played some kind of thug or serial killer.
I also think there are some people who look at what Neal did and blend it into their own experiences or stories about deadbeat boyfriends/husbands. There was some ambiguity about how he came to leave Emma and how she got to jail in terms of what was shown (putting aside comments from A&E and the actors). Also how he handled Tamara once he encountered Emma again.
I agree though, there are much darker characters but people seem willing to give some the benefit of the doubt perhaps because it seems so impossible to imagine knowing someone like that in real life. I think David would have gotten much more flack if the whole Katherine thing had dragged on any longer.

There’s also the disconnect some people felt between how they idealized Baelfire would be as an adult and how he actually turned out to be, partially for the reasons you mentioned abouve. And then there’s that rival ship bias: no matter how much the show innocents Neal of what some Captain Swan shippers perceive as “crimes” against Emma they’ll never accept that and still see him as a low life. 🙂

Will not be so great when he falls of the horse, get shot with the arrow, gets sliced by the sword, get crunched by an ogre. Needing a doctor with serious surgical skills.
As for your list Snow/Charming, Rumple/Belle, Regina/Hook, Red/Whale, The Seven Dwarves EACH WITH A FAIRY of their own , Anton with a love of his own Blue Fairy also has a special friend , Auroura/Philip and Mulan finds a warrior of her own, Robin Hood/Marian, Jimney Cricket, Granny and Geppetto, Pinocchio he is too young for a serious relationship more interested in baseball… likes the wooden bats, Hansel & Gretel, Cinderella and her prince, etc
But everyone should still be in STORYBROOKE
.
NONNIE …. What can I say I am a woman of my own times and would not like to live in the past or the future.

.May 12, 2013 at 2:13 pm #193347kfchimeraParticipantNonnie– 😆 I still have a hard time picturing everyone going from heating and air conditioned homes with plumbing to their little hovels….yeah, Rumpel and the Charmings have it made in FTL, but what about everyone else?

Just as the characters are complex, so are the people watching and reacting! It’s not just CS of course, there are those fans of other pairings with Emma, or those who want Emma to be more empowered in general, but yes it feeds into it, just as there’s extra flack that people perceive for Hook along similar lines. Then there’s also the question of our own bias about what we perceive in the first place. So if someone simply types out something trying to be factual (such as, Neal left Emma and she went to jail for his crime or Hook shot Belle and she lost all her memories) fans of that character might start to feel the character is being maligned in some way, even if no judgement is really being implied there.

Yes. The best example of this in ONCE is likely “Neal left Emma because he wanted to avoid Rumple”, which is total fan interpretation that has no basis on what is presented to us both in the show and in Adam and Eddy’s comments about Neal’s motivations. 🙄
