Actually, Rumbelle’s drama is a little easier for me to accept. MM and David’s dilemma could have been easily solved. DIVORCE. But Gold and Belle’s drama is a little more complicated (300 years of evil, long-lost son, dark magic). So, I’m willing to wait a little longer for their happy ending. 😉

Yeah, Mr. Gold and Belle are experiencing far greater issues than what Mary Margaret and David wen through. So, I expect their love story to take a little more time.
…or a lot more time. 😕
December 21, 2012 at 5:08 am #165727marilouParticipantare we certain that belle’s blues is caused by Gold?… could it not be something else?
December 21, 2012 at 5:14 am #165732elleParticipantAgain, Prince Charming and Snow White were cursed. 🙂 They were cursed to have their happy ending taken away, cursed to be apart. Plus, Regina meddled with the frame job–she worked hard to keep them apart. No one–no curse, really or anyone–is keeping Belle and Rumpelstiltskin apart.
Rumpelstiltskin keeps lying to Belle, or keeping secrets from her. Yes, he allowed her to hear the conversation with Regina, but I’m willing to bet there is much he has not told Belle–that he killed his wife, that he helped mold Regina, nor his conversation with Smee. And I’m sure there is more. And he keeps hurting others–his actions, what he does to people, that alone is enough to drive someone away.
December 21, 2012 at 5:30 am #165742magickingdomParticipant^But that’s my point. Belle and Rumpel obviously have more issues to work out. So naturally, it’s going to take longer for them to solve them. Snow and Charming’s issues were rather simple to resolve.
December 21, 2012 at 5:45 am #165748elleParticipantIt’s more than that–there is a level of understanding, trust, and support between Snow White and Prince Charming. They both know each other extremely well.
With Belle and Rumpelstiltskin, I don’t really get that. He keeps secrets and lies and doesn’t really seem to make much of an effort to change–I guess he has a bit, but he seems to quickly fall of the wagon each time. And Belle seems to be (and I do like Belle, just to add quickly) woefully naive about him. like her conversation with him at Granny’s during their date–she said it took her a long time to get to know him and that the town will eventually. Does she even know what he has done? That the town knows him pretty well already.
And how were Snow White and Prince Charming’s issues simple to overcome? They had Regina constantly trying to kill them/split them apart with the curse.
December 21, 2012 at 6:03 am #165754magickingdomParticipantI meant their relationship issues were easy to resolve. They don’t have any personal issues between them. So the constant back and forth and needless separation is kind of tedious. That’s was proven in “Broken.” When Charming found out about MM sleeping with Whale, the only thing we got were a few funny lines and boom, it was over. Wait…well, Charming did punch him in the face. 😆
However, Rumpel and Belle need to sort out their issues. And it’s going to take a long time. And quite frankly, it should. That’s why I’ve been so disenchanted by Regina’s redemption arc. It’s way too fast and not at all believable. For people who have such deep-seeded issues like Rumpel and Regina, a few episodes aren’t going to cut.
I was simply arguing that Belle and Rumpel’s story arc will take much longer than Snow and Charming’s. I wasn’t comparing ships, just pointing out facts.
December 21, 2012 at 6:12 am #165755elleParticipantI didn’t really mean to be offensive–sorry. I do like both couples. 🙂
I really don’t like Regina’s redemption arc–I agree that it is going too fast, and it seems as though everyone is supposed to suddenly forget that she was the Evil Queen and that she did terrorize everyone.
I like that they have issues to work out with, and I get that is has to go through a good amount of episodes, but it is hard for me to be sympatheitc–a gooddeal of it is probably because I’m not a huge of Rumpelstiltskin.
December 21, 2012 at 6:14 am #165756magickingdomParticipantSorry, I didn’t mean to come off so aggressive either. 😉

How curious that for 28 years, SBers would have accidents of some description to prevent them from leaving town, and now here’s someone coming from the outside having a similar thing happen. It’s like the border of the town is just constantly trying to keep people either in or out. Makes me think that Barrett really doesn’t belong in town. Hmmm.

Yeah, that. I wouldn’t buy it if Rumple changed overnight, because he’s got the dark magic addiction even more hardcore than Regina does, and unlike her, he’s showed no signs of desiring to give it up yet. So I think it’s pretty realistic that it should take a while for Rumbelle to get it together properly, and it should be a bumpy road for them to get there.
Regina’s redemption arc has been moving a bit too quickly, but I can accept that because I figure they’ve had to set her up for another fall back to the dark side.
