The timeline was a hot mess here. There is no explanation for how older Henry even exists now that half the characters went back in time and stopped him from meeting Ella, stopped Robyn from meeting Alice, pretty much stopped the timeline that we know from existing.
Henry is supposed to be 18 years old. That means baby Neal should be around 5 at most, little Robyn is around 4 at most. There is no explanation for why in the second episode we find out Emma is pregnant and Henry already looks like older Henry and here we see Emma already having given birth and Henry still looks like younger Henry.
Henry shouldn’t be 35 and Robyn 25. Alice should be way older then she is shown to be because fake Hook had her and left her and became old and then was turned young again.
There are now two young Henrys and one older Henry. Three Reginas. Three Hooks. Maybe even four because there should be past versions of all those characters in the wish realm as well as in Storybrooke.
There is no explanation for any of it. It just is and it is a complete mess. I don’t even know if i got all this right, it is such an absolute mess.
[adrotate group="5"]May 19, 2018 at 5:45 pm #347505RumplesGirlKeymasterMy guess (and it’s really only that!) is that it works like this?
1) Young Henry leaves SB at the age of 18 in the year 2018, lets say in September to match the S7 premiere date.
2) A lot of time time passes normally. Henry is now in his mid thirties when he meets Cinderella in the EF 2.0. When we see Regina, OG Hook, and Emma come to his rescue in 702, it is now Octoberish 2025-2027. Emma is having an extremely late-in-life pregnancy. This also explains why Robyn is so much older when Gothel transports her to the EF 2.0
3) Emma and OG Hook return to SB 2025-2027; this Emma and Hook are not the same ones we saw in the series finale. They are off living in the last 2020s unaware of everything that is happening.
4) The Curse is cast and it sends everyone in the EF 2.0 to HH and back in time, to pre-September 2018. It’s a random guess but let’s say six months prior, so March 2018.
5) Old Henry calls Young Henry on his graduation, which would roughly be May 2018.
6) Alice and Robyn travel via bean to SB in May of 2018. 2018Regina and 2018Emma are with recently graduated Henry on a road trip. Emma is not yet pregnant (and wont be for another 20 yrs). Baby Neal would now be about 5ish and Robyin 4ish.
7) Regina unites all the realms by bringing them to SB in May of 2018. Emma and Hook become parents much earlier than 2028 Emma did (no one has aged much from the time of unification to the time of coronation)
A big rub here is what happens when 2018!Regina and 2018!Emma come home to 2018!SB to discover that there’s a 2028!Regina, thirty year old Henry, young Wish Henry…..Are there now 2 Reginas in SB?

It’s crazy but it’s what I tell myself… LOL!!!

It was only later when they started playing fast and loose with these things, pretending that the curse time didn’t happen in some places, messing up different character’s ages, all sorts of things. The inconsistencies in the story with the character’s behaviors and with the timeline is so bad that it is all i can think about. People don’t act like this. No one is the right age. There are three or four of everyone except Emma. They then expect us to care about young fake Henry when i just don’t because he is no one to me, just like fake Hook is no one to me. They may look like other characters, but they are no one. Emma not aging and having a baby at fifty-five doesn’t work for me.
It is all illogical and the very foundation of the story has completely fallen apart. Also, the writers said wait til the end of the season. It will all make sense if you just wait. This explanation is not even remotely a good reason as to why Emma, Snow, and Charming weren’t called and asked for help much earlier in the season. They could do some sort of multiple timeline thing like Fringe or Back to the Future, but they didn’t actually say that was what was happening. I wouldn’t want that to happen even a little bit. They just aren’t going to explain it. Here is a load of nonsense. Like it. That is what they said.

It would fit as to why Henry has aged when neither Regina, Hook, or Emma had when they visited him in A Pirate’s Life. Maybe the Realm was close to the Edge of Realms where Rumple and Belle were. It also explains Zelena’s line about Robin being 25 in this realm. I also think, due to Alice’s nymph blood, that is why she looks so young when she should be the same age as Emma (or older since I think time moves faster there). I would’ve rather been given this explanation rather than a throw away line about who Lily’s father is.
May 21, 2018 at 10:06 am #347532hjbauParticipantFor me, there is just no way to explain it away. Even if we explain away one part of the timeline problem, there is still ten more timeline problems that don’t fit the explanation. This episode really created so many more problems with one of the easiest parts of the show to be consistent with. They really just needed to write it down and they didn’t.
This also, as i said, in no way helps explain why they didn’t call Emma and Snow for help earlier in the season. This was no explanation.
