Found this website http://lostonceuponatime.tumblr.com/
I never watched Lost but she puts Lost and Once scenes together check out the website for the rest of the theory this is the part on Tamara but on the website she has photos that make you think that she could be Pocahonatas. 😯
•
My Theory is that she is Pocahontas.
•Pocahontas is native to this country/realm
•Sonequa’s mysterious character, Tamara, is described as “artistic, relaxed, friendly, charming and smart”, who is not only determined to get what she wants, but is a fearless leader.
•Tamara is a female given name most commonly derived from the Biblical name “Tamar”, meaning palm tree. In Eastern European countries like Georgia, Russia, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Poland, and the Czech Republic it has been a common name for centuries. In Australia it was very popular from the 1960s to 1990s.
•In ancient Britain, Tamara was the goddess of rivers and streams. The River Tamar that forms the border between Devon and Cornwall derives its name from this spirit.
•The name Tamara is a Hebrew baby name. In Hebrew the meaning of the name Tamara is: Palm tree. Used as a symbolic oriental name due to the beauty and fruitfulness of the tree.
•Biblical: Tamar was a daughter of King David and sister to Absalom.
•This name also coincides with a Sanskrit word meaning “spice”.
•Tamara has always meant lotus flower in Tamil and Malayalam (Indian languages). Lotus flower is the most sacred flower in the Hindu culture.
•Tamar is borne in the Bible by the daughter-in-law of Judah and mother of his twin sons, and by King David’s daughter who was raped by Amnon her half brother.
•Pocahontas’s Christian name, Rebecca, may have been a symbolic gesture to Rebecca of the Book of Genesis who, as the mother of Jacob and Esau, was the mother of two “nations”, or distinct peoples. Pocahontas, as a Powhatan marrying an Englishman, may have been seen by herself and by her contemporaries as being also, potentially, the mother of two nations.
•Tiger lily was in neverland. indians in bothlands
•John smith was on a boat. she had to get him to the boat. Neil has to get to the boat. She gives him the car to help him.[adrotate group="5"]April 10, 2013 at 5:10 am #185424HappyEndingsSpectatorHere is the Welcome to Storybrooke part:
•The boys father says its an electrical storm like the ones on the island. Electromagnetic energy.
•You two look a bit “lost”, Graham
•Snows says “as long as i can remember” “Richard has been here since as long as i can remember.”
•The stranger goes for a hike in the woods. The survivors hiked through the woods
•Henry loses his parents in the restaurant. Kate lost Aaron in the supermarket. Kate got away form the marshal by going to the bathroom.
•Henry gets dynamite to blow up the well. Dynamite from the black rock. The nuke that blew up the hatch. Pocket of energy.
More to come soon😕
April 10, 2013 at 12:40 pm #185434RumplesGirlKeymasterAs a super devoted LOST fan I’m not sure I understand what the connection is. There have always been callbacks to LOST, from the numbers to Apollo bars to having Damon Lindeloff be a voice on TV off screen to Expose, ect. LOST references are everywhere. And I agree with some of those above, but I think they are just callbacks, not indicators of who Tamara really is.
As to her being Pocahontas…I don’t know. I don’t see it.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 10, 2013 at 1:58 pm #185440DemiletoParticipantWell, Sonequa’d be the wrong person to play Tamara if she was intended to be Pocahontas, a character which, BTW, I hope doesn’t show up in Once. She was, after all, a real life person, unlike the ones Once used so far.
April 10, 2013 at 2:11 pm #185441gypsyParticipantYeah, I’m a huge LOST fan.
I got all the LOST referrences in the show.
But, I agree with RumplesGirl, I don’t get the connection here, either.I think Tamara’s identity is as simple as – she was in the orphanage with August (and, possibly, so was Greg).
They stressed that her name is pronounced ‘tomorrow’.
That made me think of ‘Little Orphan Annie’.
Not that I think that’s who she is, just that it’s a nod at an ‘orphan/orphanage’ clue. There are a few other ‘Orphan Annie’ clues:
In the 30’s, Orphan Annie was a popular radio show.
Quaker Oats took over as sponsor and introduced a new character – Captain Sparks (taser?).
Quaker Oats Co. is in Carlisle, PA (Greg mentions Carlisle, PA).
Orphan Annie was also a popular comic strip in a UK newspaper – “The Daily Mirror”.April 10, 2013 at 3:53 pm #185447HappyEndingsSpectatorSo you don’t think that Tamara could be Pocahontas as this is a real person and disney made a movie out of it. Did you check out the photos comparing Tamara to Poachontas ❓
The Lost stuff I don’t get because I didn’t watch the show the little part that I did was confused. Did anyone of you happen to scroll down the page to each episode comparing the lines from Once to Lost or did you just use what I put on the page just double checking that is all no biggie 🙂
April 10, 2013 at 4:08 pm #185448RumplesGirlKeymasterDisney did make a video out of Pocahontas but they used her real life to create the movie. And because she was a real person with a real historical documentation, I’m not sure she can be incorporated into the Onceiverse. With Pocahontas, it would be very hard to explain how she was still alive in the 21st century if she doesn’t come from a mythological fairy tale land. Taking Pocahontas out of her historical era would take a lot of explanation. Also, I would hope that if they were going to have a Native American on the show (Pocahontas or Tiger Lily), they would hire an actual Native American.
I read the comparison of the lines but again I think it’s just call backs to one of the most acclaimed TV show of the past 20 years. LOST was, to quote my favorite review from TV guide when LOST finally ended, “lightning in a bottle.” Adam and Eddy have always been very proud to say they worked on LOST and how much they learned from it. We wouldn’t have Once without LOST so I think it’s very fitting and proper that they give callbacks to it. Also, I think it’s important to contexualize those lines. For example:
Snow says, “for as long as I can remember” which the post pointed is similar to a LOSTie saying “Richard’s has been here for as long as I can remember.” It’s important to put those lines in their proper context. With Snow, it’s the first day of the curse and that line is to show that she has no memories whatsoever of her previous life or what her life in SB is. With LOST, that line is to indicate that Richard’s story is a long and complex one (and one that kept fans frustrated and stupified up until his backstory was revealed).
So, in the end:
1) I really doubt Tamara is Pocahontas. I’m still holding on to the “daughter of Robin Hood and Maid Marian” theory but that’s looking less likely as well.
2) LOST references are all over OUaT
3) The lines may be similar but it’s important to contextualize them."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 10, 2013 at 6:24 pm #185459gypsyParticipantI fully agree with RumplesGirl.
I did click on the link and read a good amount of it.
Some of it can be considered LOST nods, I guess.
Most of it, imo, is the author’s view point. While the ‘Tamara’ connections that were quoted are interesting, I don get the connection to the show or the connection to LOST.
I don’t think Tamara is Pocahontas simply because Pocahontas was not an evil murderer 🙂
April 10, 2013 at 6:47 pm #185461HappyEndingsSpectatorYea, that does make sense they wouldn’t maker her a killer I never thought ot that but the photo comparison was pretty good I thought 😎
Oh, well you got to me an “E” for Effort at least 😆
April 10, 2013 at 7:01 pm #185463gypsyParticipantActually, you get an A for effort 🙂
Some of the comparisons to LOST were kind of interesting to read, even if they were just the author’s view point or not 🙂 -
