Oh God! This board is filled with Emma/Neal shippers. No wonder people are posting nasty comments about a character no one knows about. 🙄 I have never encountered such intolerance on a message board in my life.
I have before, reminds me of reactions in the fandom of Cold Case when they first tried to add another female detective to the show for third season. Some harsh commentaries before the first episode with her even aired and it never got better. The character didn’t quite work for the show anyway, but the way a few fans reacted was exaggerated and unnecessary. It was only a minority of fans but it was a very loud one.
On the other hand I can understand that people get passionate.
But provoking people even more is not helpful either, L. Jones.
A bit of advice in general and to everybody: Sometimes it helps to not post immediately. Write in a text editor, save it there (or here as draft), take a break, drink a coffee, do some housework or whatever and then come back and take a second look. And mind, talking disrespectful about a fictional character might be taken by many as not so serious, but it creates moods and tones as well and it’s not really that much better as if we were talking about a real person.

By the way, I despise Neal. I think he’s a douche.
I am slightly offended that being an emma/neal shipper (which you already have stated you have a bias against) is the sole reason why there’s hate towards Tamara or that it is exclusive to this group. The hate is natural. It happens. It has nothing to do with intolerance or immaturity. Every fan clique has their moments where they say their piece about characters. There’s no need for the eye roll. (: Personally hate like this a par of the course (maybe you’ve been on different type of boards?) when coming to characters (and ones that are being shipped) honestly I have seen it for celebrities as well.
To be honest comments like is completely turning me off of the OUAT fandom.

I didn’t know it was against the rules to include an eye roll smilie when posting a comment. And do you have any other explanation as to why there are many rants and slams against the Tamara or the actress who plays here . . . before anyone has a chance to know her character?
March 8, 2013 at 1:57 am #178107iheartnealcParticipantC’mon people! This is a fictional show! Besides, what man do you REALLY know will wait 10 years? Emma didn’t. But all in all, this is a fictional show. You never know what outcome Tamara may have. Heck she has only been on the show for 30 seconds! I am totally for swanfire, but the same time I hope everyone has there happy ending. You people are way too obsessed.

Will Neal’s fiancée play a role in future Once Upon a Time episodes? –Devin
Yes — though probably not in quite the way you expect. And that’s all I’ll say, for now, on the matter… so here’s series cocreator Eddy Kitsis, pre-PaleyFest: “Tamara’s not going anywhere anytime soon…. We’re very excited for the audience to see what she’s all about.” (Ooh, Devin, you came so close to asking the question I have a tantalizing response for. Maybe next week….)March 8, 2013 at 11:41 am #178174dena81Participant@playarita wrote:

Do I ship Emma/Neal? Oh yes I do…hardcore even. To the point that if I look at happy Neal/Tamara pics my heart cringes. does this mean I hate Tamara? Noooo I’m happy we FINALLY have an African American woman on!!! I’d like her to stay, I’d like her to be integral, I’d like her to find love with someone in StoryBrooke that’s not Neal! Trust me, SB does have some lookers and let’s not shove her with Hook to quite the Hook/Emma fans out there please -.- she deserves a classy guy.
That being said, in light of recent Eddy/Adam spoilers, I’m theorizing on who Tamara is. Part of me wonders if she is actually from SB and somehow wandered over the town line? Maybe her memory erased and August found her and somehow told Neal he needed to watch over her for the time being. Or another theory of mine, Henry kept saying bad things happen when people cross the town line. So…why don’t we hear about hundreds of deaths? I mean no one has thought “Oh I want to go to Boston?” or go find a mall? Or go cross-country? Not one single person? Did Regina’s curse affect them that much? Or….did someone try and get into an accident so bad a rumor was spread about of how bad it was, making Henry think “Oh bad things really happen, people die” because everyone was led to believe this ‘accident’ resulted in death? What if they thought it was Tamara’s death? But instead a wandering August found her and somehow saved her? It’s a bs theory really but I dunno I just feel like in the pics, in the short, short scene it seems like Neal is protecting her more than being in head over heels in love with her. Maybe it’s just my swanfire shipper heart hoping *shrugs* who knows
but please stop saying all swanfire shippers are rude and hate Tamara. No we just hate Hook =P I don’t know Tamara yet to hate or love her.
March 8, 2013 at 11:56 am #178175jbwood5ParticipantI am starting to think she is another realm jumper kind of like Neal. Which would make sense since I am sure he doesn’t tell her about his past and it would make it so she understands. And since Emma and him, to people from another land, found each other so who’s to say that isn’t how these 2 became a thing. Disney did just make a movie with an African American “princess” a few years ago so I could see them throwing her into the mix. When she gets to storybrooke if someone ends up with a pet frog then I will be convinced that is what thy have done. Plus her name, Tamara and Tianna are kind of similar so it is possible. Likely? No, but possible.

In the previous post and this post I interpreted as very condescending. I was simply saying that the emotional response of the eye roll was unnecessary. However if you feel you need to be so aggressive in your rudeness I suppose you have every right. I will have to then dash any modicum of respect I might have had for you and simply ignore you. If you cannot handle any sort of criticism back towards your specific behavior then that is more an issue with you.
Although I still do assert the possibility that you are unfamiliar as to how protective fans can be of their shipping and even extending to celebrities. Yes it can be overwhelming but generally once the emotional response is over generally it’s peaches and cream. You have people espousing hate over a new character, and you have people leaving the board/hating the show because their favorite character is not featured enough. People are passionate about their characters. Then you have those who will literally take a two second glance to solidify the shipping. They are all shades of the same passion. That’s the driving force behind all the immediate knee-jerk reactions.
I am sure you and I are decent posters I simply believe that passionate responses are par of the course that will usually subside as time goes on. However I’ve added my part and my theories and if they are ignored to focus solely on the negative as a way of pointing out a negative as a group as a whole then so be it.
Well welcome to the boards. I will try to be civil from here on out and suspect that our crossing paths will be limited. (:

Well you can take a look at the Captain Swan thread for more intolerance. That’s not a dig, that’s just a fact. You yourself don’t like Neal. Rumbellers dislike Cora. You are obviously not a SwanFire shipper so I am sure you have your intolerances, as you have stated bluntly. It is part of it. Everything is taken with a grain of salt. The majority of posts about Tamara are as such: “I hope I can still dislike her when we get to know her. SMILIE/LAUGHING FACE”
They are jokes and they are acknowledging that the writers are creative in a very intriguing way. And most of the comments are followed with SMILES. No harm is done, it is all done in giggly lightheartedness.
This has turned into a swan fire thread, mainly because I think non swanfires aren’t particularly interested by her existence and its not all intriguing to theorize when you’re not really invested. Its okay. It is just how it happens. They are conversations of whoever chooses to post. Just because more swanfires have posted doesn’t mean we’ve taken over (not saying you said that, just flowin’) it just means that is where the interest is. Anyone can post here freely, just as you have.
It’s all good, we are all having a good time. 🙂
Edit: I don’t not like Tamara and I am Swan fire all the way. But I do see how they are setting it up. Purposeful likability angst. Honestly, I’m not really all that hardcore into Snowing, esp when I was first watching OUAT. But when they first introduced Abigail in FTL, they introduced her as such to provoke a reaction. And as we all know Tamara’s character description, I think that is where the tug of war comes from too. The light portrayal of the 2 second scene vs what we know : “won’t stop til she gets what she wants” and all that jazz. So there is limbo right now but that will change. Honestly it will develop and the writers developing mixed with personal sentiment will cement opinions more deeply. Right now we don’t know anything so I understand the angst!
Keeper Nealfire's/Bae's scarf, Henry and Neal's bribery ice cream sundae, Baelfire's sword, the coconut map, and more.
March 9, 2013 at 4:06 am #178405Rumple LoveParticipantI personally like Tamara. To me she seemed very genuine and trusting. I can honestly say that if my husband was going to take a trip with some random women (pretty or not) that I would not be even close to that understanding. I want to her like. I tend to like the “not so good guys” *again professes her love for Rumple / Mr. Gold* so maybe her super sweetness is going to set us up for another “not so nice guy”. Personally I love the idea of her being Tiger Lily; however do not have any real information as to why I feel this way. I am on team Swanfire; however I wrote somewhere else around here that I kind of hope that Emma’s true love is her son. Someone said it here many post back that just because they have a child does not mean they belong together. I believe that to be true. If they are going to be matched with anyone in the end it needs to be them, but I think having parents that are not married but remain friends and co-parent effectively is a good message.
🙄 Anyhow, rambling. Had surgery two weeks and have had little contact with the outside world. So you poor dearies are my targets for my ramblings of nothingness as I slowly re-enter the world of interactions. Sorry!! 🙄
Anyways,
