Some of us did this exercise yesterday and it was quite fascinating to see everyone’s responses. The rules are you have to pick ten books that have impacted your life, good or bad. Not inspired, but impacted. Don’t overthink it. Don’t rationalize your choice. Don’t evaluate your choices. Just list.
Here is mine:
1. Harry Potter, J. K. Rowling
2. Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen
3. Charlotte’s Web, E. B. White
4. Little Women, Louisa May Alcott
5. Anne of Green Gables, L. Maud Montgomery
6. Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens
7. Persuasion, Jane Austen
8. Grimms Fairy Tale, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm
9. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald Dahl
10. Read Aloud Handbook, Jim Trelease
And because I can’t follow my own rules, here are my bonus additions:
11. Bridget Jones’s Diary by Helen Fielding
12. Little House… by Laura Ingalls Wilder
13. Building Dolls’ House Interiors by Carrol and Nigel Lodder
14. The Stand by Stephen King.
