To be fair RG did they say the dark one dagger was end all be all of magic. Some fantasy lands have several magical artifacts of great power that were made a long time ago. The dagger is just one of those things that just happens to be a item of evil. So I can see the idea of several ancient artifacts being around.
I have no issues with artifacts. I mean, clearly, they are going to have those. It’s that they’ve established the idea that except for Blue, nothing is stronger than the Dark One’s power. And then each season they come up with some plot device that is suddenly more powerful than the Dark One. Obviously there are going to be other objects, that’s not my point. My point is that in ranking them, the show keeps breaking with the notion that the power of the Dark One’s dagger and his curse was ranked higher than anything else.

Ah okay RG, I misunderstood, my bad.
Also Heart of Darkness, I am also curious about how the Apprentice lived such a long time. My only guess is that the Sorcerer might have powers that most common wizards do not.

The box that the Sorcerer’s Hat is in even looks a little bit like a chalice. I think in the Once universe, the Hat is the holy grail for all intents and purposes.
I also had a thought about the difference between wizards and Sorcerers. We’ve heard several times that Rumple is the most powerful wizard in all the lands. I’m thinking there are different classes of magical beings, and Wizards are ranked below Sorcerers in this class system, which is why the Sorcerer is potentially more powerful than Rumple, a Wizard.
What I’m most curious about is where is the Sorcerer currently?
Part of me thinks he’s been trapped in the hat, possibly by the apprentice. BUT, since there is now a big abandoned mansion (where Rumple found the Hat) in Storybrooke, I think the mansion’s new presence could hint that the Sorcerer is actually in Storybrooke, which also leads me to believe he could’ve had a hand in writing the book.
Even if the Sorcerer had nothing to do with the book, him having a mansion in storybrooke would suggest he’s there… possibly.

I, for one, also think the mansion in which Rumple and Belle were squatting during their honeymoon belongs to the sorcerer, since that is where Rumple found the sorcerer’s hat. I’m also wondering where the sorcerer is now at this precise moment. Is he even in town now? Maybe the sorcerer is so powerful that he can come and go as he pleases to different dimensions. Ever wondered where Jefferson got his traveling hat? My guess is it was this sorcerer. Maybe the sorcerer is even traveling in other worlds now, which is why the mansion was mysteriously vacant. I also think that Blue Fairy knows the sorcerer, and that she went to him for “final preparations” to write the story book just before the first curse arrived to take them all to Storybrooke. Whether the sorcerer and the writer of the story book are one in the same, I’m not totally positive, but I think it’s entirely possible. That is why Henry becoming the apprentice to the dark one will likely lead him (and by extension Regina) straight to the author of Henry’s book (aka the sorcerer).

October 21, 2014 at 2:19 pm #286660TheWatcherParticipantHmm.. If the mansion belongs to the sorcerer, then I don’t think Rump would want to squat in it. Especially when he sees the hat. I get the impression the sorcerer is extremely powerful perhaps even more than The Dark One. If Rump knew who lived there, I would think he’d get the hat and get the heck out of there rather than dance and make tacos in someone else’s bed. If the Sorcerer walked in on them (hehehe) he’d probably magic them out of existence…or whatever Sorcerers do..

I doubt Rumple or Belle have any idea whose house they were squatting in. You’d think that as cunning as Rumple is, he’d have better sense than just to live in a vacant house, especially one that contained such a powerful artifact as the sorcerer’s hat. Alarm bells should have gone off in his head as to who the owner of such a large estate could be and why it’s standing empty at present.

October 21, 2014 at 2:35 pm #286668itsreallymeehParticipantWas anyone else disappointed by the hat after the old man was sucked in? They said that hat needed to be filled with power so I wanted a better visual of how much more they needed til it was full. I saw the tiny star sparkle after he was sucked in but how many more stars does it need? It would’ve been lame but I kinda was expecting for a level bar being raised so we could visualized it. Did anyone see something I missed?
Also, I’m guessing Rumple is going to want to put Emma in the hat now too since she has a lot of power.
