But that is just such a cop out. WAY TOO EASY and predictable.

This is my main issue with the author and sorcerer being the same person. Its just so obvious. Like when it is revealed, no one is going to say “Oooohhh I didn’t see that coming” -___- I hope its all a diversion, a red herring I believe its called. I hope the author is someone we don’t suspect. But from the looks of it its surely Yensid or Merlin. Or both.
    Yenserlin.
    Mersid.

TVLINE | Would you want to rule out one fan theory, that the Sorcerer will turn out to be Yen Sid?
KITSIS | The sorcerer from Fantasia? Yeah, we can rule that out.
HOROWITZ | The Fantasia story is a jumping off point. We have something else in mind for the Sorcerer’s background.

    YAYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I kinda rolled my eyes a bit at that interview answer because it’s like they were all, “Wut, you think Yen Sid is srsly an option?” when they went and cast someone as the Apprentice who looks very much like Yen Sid.

    Yenserlin

I dunno about that being the name of a character mashup, but it totally sounds like a ship I could get on board with.

Based on the interview, its definitely looking more likely that the Sorcerer’s identity is Merlin. Merlin is the most famous sorcerer in literature, so it would be rather fitting. Though, I was wondering if maybe the Sorcerer isn’t the actual author, but instead its really the Apprentice. That would be quite a predicament if the very Author Rumple is now looking for is trapped in the hat. There have been some theories that the Apprentice has really been the Sorcerer this entire time, and the Apprentice is just a cover up to shield his identity.

Now one could ask why the Author would do such a thing? Perhaps he (or she for that matter) wanted Belle to cast Rumple out into the cold, dark, Land Without Magic.

I could see that, I just hope if they went that way they wouldn’t use it to excuse the depths Rumple has sunk to and have Belle decide it wasn’t really his fault, and that she wasn’t justified in being upset, because the big bag Sorcerauthor manipulated them into acting how they have.

Zeus or Phil from Hercules- This is another wild guess. Honestly the only reason I am suggesting it was because in the Belle flashback during the winter finale, we saw all those Grecian helmets and things in Rumple’s house in the Enchanted Forest and I just thought that was odd. And Hades I am ruling out because why would a villain write stories where he would never win (that is also why I am not writing the names of any villains on this list).

Considering there’s a movie for them, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Hercules and Hades and Co on the show at some point. If it seemed they were going to keep Ursula’s goddess status I might think they were gonna introduce the Hercules tangent as part of that, but Ursula seems to have been demoted, so I dunno.

I’m torn on the idea that the Sorcerer is Merlin. On the one hand I’ve been wanting more Arthurian legend. But Merlin as I understand him seems a bit too “real” of a person who would be a tangible part of the world, someone everyone can interact with, which doesn’t really fit with the mysterious, reclusive, unseen, almost ethereal Sorcerer they’ve set up.

Just saw the interview. Yup. Merlin. (who lives in our world under the name Walt. I’m not letting that one go)

Well, hey, the proto-Merlin in Welsh legend was named Myrddin Wyllt. Wyllt’s close enough to Walt, right? There’s hope yet.

I would like for it to be Merlin. A king Arthur storyline would be neat.

Though a small part of me would enjoy it if “the author” was just this random guy, living in a crummy appartment and having no idea that all his stories had come to life. 😉
