Tch, of course he didn’t tell her he spend her money in Phuket, He old her he enjoy the pleasure staying in PK(with her money) until his leg was hurted *beacause of her*, he stated this every clear in his centric eps. He didn’t search for any FT characters in PK or a side mission there.

Her life was spiraling down the toilet and being sent to jail changed her and ultimately led her to Storybrook. August was just doing his job in ensuring she doesn’t stray away from her path, and if she had continued to steal for a living with someone who only encouraged this poor life choice, Emma could possibly have never gone to Storybrook.
It doesn’t matter if August took the money to self-indulge in Phuket, he admitted it himself that he was weak with temptations, bad August. But you can’t hate him for making sure she didn’t run off with some thief.
Some people are too butthurt over the fact that he took the money and spent it all, even though he told Neal himself that Emma won’t have a need for any of the money.Everyone needs to look at the bigger picture here. Which is, Emma breaking the curse! If she had stayed with that riffraff Neal (a little bias here), OUAT would not have happened.

That first part I get but she was in that situation in the first place because she was left alone. Now after if he would have just come back and followed through on his “I’m here now” then ok I see what he’s doing. August though doesn’t follow through he sees a more self serving option and bails on Emma again. She may not have needed money but having August around would have been better than having nobody for the subsequent 10 years. In the end it didn’t matter that he screwed Emma over again (money aside) by leaving her alone for a 2nd time instead of being the big brother he was ment to be to her as she still found her way to Storybrooke and broke the curse. All his actions do in the end is make August look to put it mildly less than honorable he was entrusted with Emma’s care and he didn’t act in her best interests the way he was entrusted to do. What it does is make it look like the only thing that made him own up to his responsibilities was his own self interest otherwise he would never have come to Storybrooke
November 25, 2012 at 8:07 am #162158craxyfoxParticipantYea I completely get that now, how he just disappeared after he said he finally found Emma, and then wasn’t there for her after, that is the annoying thing I don’t like about him. It’s just a little more annoying when people only hate him for taking the money and/or breaking apart Neal and Emma
ps. I absolutely love that gif as your sig! I will go down with this ship 😆

Na I have multiple reasons to hate him lol, I don’t really mind much about the whole breaking her up with Neal thing I can understand that also as you see I’m a CaptainSwan fan and I too am prepared to go down with that ship 😉

erm. Yes, he did ruin her life. He separated her from the man she loved and who loved her. He put her in jail, even though she wasn’t guilty. They were having a baby and because of the difficult circumstances she gave it away. If that’s not ruining someone’s life then I don’t know what is.
And it was stated pretty clear that they didn’t want to continue stealing. That watch job was their ticket to a new life and hadn’t August interfered, they would’ve gone to Tallahassee and start a completely new stealing-free life – the fact that they were having a baby, would’ve definitely made sure they started thinking about doing the right things.November 25, 2012 at 12:32 pm #162173becParticipantI agree with craxyfox. If it wasnt for August, the curse wouldn’t have been broken. And she didn’t really have a life beforehand, she was just a young girl who didn’t know any better and all she did was steal- how is that a good life. Also he had a big responsibility in ensuring that Emma broke the curse, I would say he did a pretty damn good job.

She still ends up knowing her son,and finding out who are parents are (yay?!) and have a line of guys next to her.Going to jail and becoming more self guarded was some of the prices that had to be paid,I don’t think ouat would be too amazingly interesting if the story started off with her and Neal living in tallahassee and the end /: August just had to take the hit in order for this show to be interestingly addictive I guessNovember 25, 2012 at 1:37 pm #162186PheeParticipant@craxyfox wrote:

Yeah, that’s basically what it comes down to. She wasn’t able to have her happily ever after at that point in her life, (meaning she didn’t really escape the curse after all), because if she’d got that, then she wouldn’t have become the person she needed to be, and wouldn’t have been in the right place at the right time to break the curse. If she, Neal and baby Henry were happily living free in Tallahassee, then the inhabitants of SB were stuck and Emma wouldn’t have discovered who she really is or found her parents. Would that really have been a preferable situation? August’s actions may have set Emma up for some tough times, but that was the path she had to take. It’s not like he just went to screw up her life because he had nothing better to do. His actions had a purpose, and the hate he gets for having broken them up is just shoot the messenger stuff IMO.

Oh, and why couldn’t Neal just stay with them and bring Emma to SB himself? Obiviously he believed August so why did have to just leave rather than work with August on trying to convince Emma to believe?
Also, I don’t believe in destiny. That would mean we have no control over our actions and therefore no real free will.
