It turns out that the Black Fairy is really Rumple’s mother! Are you surprised or shocked? Do you like this development? Do you think we’ll see her again? And why did she leave Rumple, really?
Also, what does she do with all those stolen kids?

I didn’t get whether she was genuinely surprised that Rumple was her son or if she was just playing him to stall for time.

Rump really can’t catch a break can he? Both of his parents abandoned him to pursue their love of power, and ended up stealing children and he grew up to be just like them. Sheesh.

I thought it was an interesting development, and hopefully something we’ll see more of as the Season progresses. Didn’t at least one person predict that Rumple’s mother was a fairy? Also a bit fitting in hindsight that they used her wand in the same episode that they defeated Pan.

I felt like she was stalling. She knew who he was and they both have to be centuries old. I’d find it hard to believe she doesn’t know her own child. She didn’t seem too phased by it so I’m guessing she already knew.

Yeah, this opens up a lot of narrative doors but are they REALLY going to go down them? It took years of fans asking in the Hot Seat to finally give us this tiny morsel and I’m not convinced it was planned out in any meaningful way. I think it was “hey! They want to see the Black Fairy. They keep asking about Rumple’s mother. Two birds…one stone!”
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"November 27, 2016 at 9:20 pm #330732SirMedrautParticipantSo…was Rumple the child of BlackPan or is the unsaid implication here actually that he was never Malcolm’s biological son? Seeing as how the Black Fairy gave him away without even naming him or whatever the line was? The episode title is plural, after all, and traditionally ‘Changeling’ has been used, ahem, interchangeably (sorry) to refer to the children taken by fairies (the mentioned victims of the BF and, more positively, Gideon) and the fairy children left behind in their place (Rumple, I guess?)
just exactly how retconny is this retcon, anyways? And will we ever actually get any follow up on this? I’m so frustrated.

That’s one of my questions as well. I think they’re sticking with Pan as his father but how a fairy and a mortal managed to have sex and have a child under Blue’s nose without her knowing about it when Nova and Dreamy couldn’t even have a date is beyond me.

We know why Pan abandoned him, but I can’t help but feel that there’s more to the Dark Fairy’s story. She seemed surprised to see Rumple, and I wonder whether she really abandoned Rumple or if he was taken from her, which could explain why she takes other parent’s kids because she never got to keep hers.
And I think we all know one specific fairy whose very strict on the affairs between fairies and humans/dwarves.

November 27, 2016 at 9:31 pm #330739RumplesGirlKeymasterAlso, someone wanna tackle why neither Rumple nor Belle brought up Black Fairy as Rumple’s mother three years ago when they went to fetch her wand? Anyone…anyone? *crickets*
