It is just another sword then? It isn’t special in some way. That is sort of sad. Then why did Rumpel give her her father’s sword specifically. Why keep it? Though i guess these objects could have just shown up in his shop when the curse happened and he didn’t actually collect them.

I think the sword can be thoroughly non-magical and still be special because of its use and its history, the way antiques are more than just old things. And even if the sword is not unique, it would have a kind of shared heritage with the others of its family, just like starships named “Enterprise”.

Perhaps Rumple kept the sword for Emma for the same reason Ruth gave Charming her wedding, ring…the same reason why, when my father died, his wife gave my brother his toolbox and I was given my father’s Bible. These things matter–to no one else, but they matter to us. My brother and I think of them as tokens of our father’s blessing, and I suspect Charming and Emma feel the same way about their momentos.

The Blue Fairy: Well, nobody asked, but I thought I would say something now, in case it might be the same evil Dark Curse.

Snow: And you didn’t tell Bae about True Love’s Kiss?!
Grumpy: Let’s show this blue fairy what Snow White and the seven dwarves can really do!
    Charming: Where’s my sword?

In reference to the sword….how did Rumple ever get possession of it. In the pilot both Charming and Snow picked it up. After it was thrown at the Queen it hit the wall in her castle. The only time Rumple touched it was when he blocked a blow and that was before he saves Snow.
