Participant*sigh*…. I really do think those that put this sort of rubbish out as an “acceptable” list of questions to ask cast at SDCC, would be better off using their time in a therapist’s office :/
I have nothing against LGBT representation on the show, but seriously, crap like the above has gotta stop! Emma & Regina/SQ isnt going to happen, A&E out right told them that at another con last year (I think it was). These septic fans need to stop sucking lemons & build a bridge already… if they asked ‘appropriate’ questions- like are they considering having a LGBT couple as main characters in the near future etc. rather than trying to force what they see/SQ on A&E & the show, then maybe there would actually be LGBT couples on the show. So far all they’re proving is how big of a pain in the backside they are when things dont go their way… Grrrrrrrrrr.

ParticipantFans like that give Oncers a bad name. Those questions are just rude plain and simple. Worst of all, they are targeted at the actors and actresses themselves. There are ways of bringing up points without being rude about it.
I have nothing against having an LGBT couple on the show, however because of fans like that, I hope they never have an LGBT couple on the show because why should bullying behaviour like that be rewarded? It is a shame to people who do genuinely want to have a LGBT couple on the show but it is people, SQers, like that that do serious damage to the cause rather than help it.

ParticipantI heard about the little ‘ambush’ plan for SDCC…I’m really hoping it’s just something that blew up in the fandumb and isn’t really something people think is appropriate.
I agree, Surayya, I would love to see LGBTQ representation on the show – it is a show about love at it’s core. Develop Mulan’s character and have her find a partner who isn’t in love with someone else (and for all intents and purposes to date, straight). Or introduce a couple of new characters. Develop a secondary character who isn’t Mulan; there’s plenty we know little about, so introducing such a storyline would still feel organic.
Interestingly, not all questions on the list are septic, at face value. #6 is an extremely interesting question – ‘you have written Emma and Regina to a point where they have a clear level of trust and care for each other. How will you maintain and develop that history going forward? – for example. Using the question to discuss Emma & Regina’s friendship and roles in co-parenting Henry is an excellent question. HOWEVER, using it to bait A&E – which in the context of this list is exactly the point – is not acceptable. Do NOT harass the writers, EPs, and actors. That can also be said for all ‘ships and factions of the fandom. Sending hate and calling it constructive criticism just makes you, the ‘asker’ look ridiculous, cruel and, frankly, stupid. In order to ‘constructively’ criticize, you have to 1st understand what that concept means.
Look, am I happy that “my” ship is the one that’s become cannon? Of course I am, I’m not going to lie. But part of the reason I became invested in the ship is because I saw the writing on the wall – and it intrigued me. There are other ships – even on this show – that are cannon that I simply don’t understand or am not particularly invested in. I’ll admit it, I’m not a Rumbeller. They’re fine, but I never really connected with them. I don’t dislike what the writers do with them, I’m intrigued in their storyline, but I’m not particularly invested in Belle & Rumple’s romantic relationship, and I find Rumple far more interesting as the DO. And, in terms of a ‘crackship’ – let’s take Hookriel. I HATE the idea of Hook & Ariel. I find nothing about that particular pairing that would be interesting (their love of the sea? Really?). Even if they had not INTRODUCED Hook as a love interest for Emma and Eric for Ariel, I would not find Hookriel realistic or interesting. But if it had become cannon, would I have gone after A&E with figurative pitchforks like some ‘fans’ do? No. My interest in my favorite character (guess which one! 🙂 ) may have waned, but I wouldn’t be attacking those that bust hiney to bring me the show I love about it.
Luckily, I do feel the negative and septic members of each ship and the fandom are in the minority. I think for the most part, many are respectful. It’s good to see other members show their support to the actors & writers in response to those who try to start arguments and negativity. Although, if someone does have the audacity to say something disrespectful at SDCC, I really hope the panel just shuts it down for once and for all. Jen Morrison has seemed to concern herself a little less with trying to be diplomatic and answering the questions asked honestly (hey you don’t like the answer, don’t create or participate in an environment where it’s asked!)

ParticipantYeah…at this point I’m kinda hoping the moderator just sifts through questions submitted via Twitter and stuff and they don’t actually have fans stand up and ask questions themselves at all. It also tends to be more efficient and balanced that way, so we’d probably get to hear more from the actual panelists.
But if they do have a fan Q&A and someone tries to drag up rape culture/misogyny in reference to CS, I’m going to scream. (Of course being over 2,600 miles away it’s not like that’d mean much, but I’m just saying.) That just drives me nuts–not only because it’s blatantly untrue, but also because it cheapens and diminishes the issue itself. Ugh.

Yep, you nailed it on the head & it’s how I feel about it as well. Enough is enough already.

Yes agreed on that, with tweaking a few of the questions could make for some very interesting answers into character development- the problem is the context.

LOL- did you climb in my head or did we telepathically connect or something?!? I can say I 100% agree with everything in this entire paragraph & for the same reasons.

ParticipantI’m not going to weigh into the SQ thing, there’s nothing really I can add to the discussion. Everything I want to say has already been said, and probably more eloquently than I could ever say it.
So I had some free time the past few evenings to watch some CS to see if I could narrow down my favourite moment. And have come to the conclusion that I can’t. What I have discovered is that I enjoy what *isn’t* said between them. All through their relationship (and I don’t mean that in a romantic sense) they say so much with their looks, and most notably in Quiet Minds.
Even if you don’t romantically ship CS, people must see they have a very strong friendship, especially in 3B. They speak their minds to each other, they are there to support one other. Not every conversation between them has romantic overtones. Hook does have a very good way with words that you can see Emma melt sometimes. There seems to be a switch he can flick, that if Emma is upset or annoyed, he can say the right thing and her eyes soften, she almost becomes a different person.
Even though we know exactly how Hook feels about Emma (and you could almost think that he realises he might never win her love – esp by The Jolly Roger when he admits to his own broken heart) he is still there to help her, to support her and her family. I think I would have been quite happy had Emma and Hook not hooked up by the end of the final, b/c I enjoy their friendship so much. So every moment between them, be it romantic, sarcastic, snarky, friendly, etc I love. It’s such a deep affection for each other.
I know people got a bit annoyed that it *had* to be Emma’s “love interest” that travelled to the past with her. But really it was her closest friend who travelled with her, does it matter that that friend happens to be male? I don’t think her parents even know her as well as Hook does. She shares so much with him.
So yeah, I definitely can’t narrow down a favourite… however, and this could just be the way it’s shot, but their “if it can be broken, it means it still works” conversation in The Tower is beautiful – the soft blue light, the snow, their looks *sighs* (and again, a very significant look between them before Emma walks off, but Hook collects himself and continues to stand by her) I can’t wait to see where they go in S4. And if the first lot of BTS photos is anything to go by, it’s looking good.
If one is to engage with the primordial forces of darkness, one must expect a little social awkwardness

ParticipantThe people who ask things like many of those questions are not fans. They are agitators. They are attention junkies. Their goal is not to prove a point or even represent a lifestyle.
They are the way they are because there is a lack of grace in their personality.
ONCE is Adam’s and Eddie’s story to tell how they want to tell it.
Tell them you don’t agree with it, sure. Ask for truly constructive changes. Write the fan fic and create a whole supportive and loyal following for it on the side. Use the Internet in positive ways to support and comfort and rejoice. Wonderful. Or turn off the show, support something else. But bullying and threatening and being general crapa**es about it just proves they are graceless, and not a small bit immature.

I’m definitely a RumBeller. I find RumBelle to be the most interesting and adorable ship on the show. CaptainSwan is in second place though it did take me time to get into it. One canon ship that I do have trouble investing in is OutlawQueen. The idea of Regina and Robin together is interesting but the way it has been written so far, there’s no reason WHY Regina and Robin would be so into each other, other than because “Pixie Dust said so”. And with the revelation that Regina murdered Marian, whom Robin loved dearly, then basically usurped Marian’s place in Robin and Roland’s lives, I think it’s just a step too far that Robin would willingly hook up with his wife’s murderer.
And, in terms of a ‘crackship’ – let’s take Hookriel. I HATE the idea of Hook & Ariel. I find nothing about that particular pairing that would be interesting (their love of the sea? Really?). In terms of crackship, RegalCat was my crackship of choice during the Neverland arc though recently WickedCat has kind of interested me and would’ve been an interesting dynamic I think.
Hookriel only worked on the premise that Hook was Eric so that could’ve been an interesting pairing. However, once Eric was introduced as a separate character, I think it was generally accepted Hookriel was sunk.
FrozenFire would’ve been an interesting ship if only for the name alone. That’s why it’s such a shame Neal died. Elsa and him didn’t have to get together canonically, he only had to live at least partway into season 4 for the crackship FrozenFire to sail.
All magic comes with a price!
