Thank you @Jenna_B 🙂 Rumple used to be my favorite to once but when he does something I don’t approve, I’m not going to blatantly ignore it. I’m going to call him out on it. Everything Rumple did in 4A was more than reprehensible. He deserved to be banished.

Hook made mistakes in 4A but he did not have deserve to have his heart ripped out and forced to become Rumple’s slave. Nor did he deserve to be forced to watch another woman he truly loved die before him.

So tomorrow in the 28 Days of OUAT, is Favourite Canon Ship (In-show Past or Present). I already have something written up about Captain Swan but it would be good for my ‘shipmates to post their thoughts about CS tomorrow and why our babies are our favorite.

Ok, a HUGE shout out to Obisgirl for standing up for Hook in one of the other threads (4×12 synopsis). Sometimes I actually believe there’s a bit of…celebratory…attitude here for essentially pushing about 90% of the CSers/Hook supporters who visit and contribute to the site here out. Sorry, visitors to the thread, but not sorry. It’s what happened. One thread went so far as to bash an interview Colin gave and turn it into one more Neal-is-perfect-Hook-is-evil tirade. But Obisgirl did a great job of arguing our points in an adult way. I am so sick of the ‘person A is my favorite, therefore perfect, so person B has to be evil therefore everything that is wrong with the show.’ Why do you have to hate Hook if you love Neal or Rumple? I love Hook but I don’t hate Neal, and I love Rumple when he’s in full on DO mode! It’s actually the anti-Hook/pro-whoever crud supporters of various characters & ships spew that end up putting a bad taste in my mouth and increase my dislike the character/ship. And yes, CSers will be some of the first to point out Hook’s flaws and negative attributes. I hope that, even given the above, some of those who fled or are just popping on occasionally come back to at least this thread once the hiatus ends. I miss my fellow CSers!!

I agree 100% with you! Meant to write something too but my laptop is not cooperaitng lately.

    Bravo Obisgirl!

I will definitly write somethin g abou CS for the other tread.

I don’t try to sugarcoat Hook’s flaws.  He’s got them.  They’re what make him interesting.  Flaws are what make Regina interesting, and Rumple too.  I loved to hate Rumple’s actions in 4A because though I understand Belle’s belief that Rumple can change, I just don’t think he is capable of changing to the extent Belle believes he can, at this point at least.  But he could get there…4B will likely the catalyst – I’m looking forward to a good Rumple arc.  And Emma’s no angel either.  I think it does a huge disservice to victimize her and downplay her actions in her past because they make her who she is today.  But if she were Lil Miss Perfect, the show would be a completely different show (and one that would bore me to no end).  I think one of the reasons I don’t connect to Belle as much as some of the other characters is because she is just too good.  She is Rumple’s moral compass and that puts a huge weight on her shoulders?  I’d love to see just a little Dark Belle, honestly!

In regard to the 4a Rumple/Hook arc, I actually really liked it.  Hook walked right into Rumple’s trap – I will be 1st in line to argue that.  But, really, he almost needed to have his hand forced, because he and the audience realized just how much he DOESN’T want to be a villain – he had to do Rumple’s bidding, but he hated doing it.  He learned his lessons the hard way while being under Rumple’s thumb.  Some argue he could’ve done something to let people know Rumple had his heart – I disagree.  Maybe Rumple wasn’t controlling Hook to the point Cora was controlling Aurora in S2, but in my opinion he had the power to prevent Hook from saying something just as much as he had the power to force Hook to say whatever Rumple wanted him to say.

I’ll check the thread, Obisgirl.  I’m still VERY sensitive when it comes to this site so I can’t promise anything, but I’ll check it out!

I’m pretty much going to agree with everything you just said @Jenna_B. I enjoyed dark!Belle because it showed Belle did have some misgivings about her and Rumple, and even deep down she didn’t really believe he ever gave her the proper dagger. I love Rumple continuing to be conniving and villainous. It would be exceedingly boring if he got over his power struggle so quickly and settled down to have Rumple/Belle babies (snorefest). I loved the Rumple/Hook arc. Yes Hook walked right into the trap, and you could see Rumple perk up as soon as Hook said he wanted his hand back for Emma. He had a ‘love is a weapon’ plan forming right there and then.

And I agree, it was to show just how much those two characters have changed or not changed as the case may be. Hook is reverting back (not totally) to the good man he once was as the naval officer since he has no more vengeance in his heart. He has Emma now, he doesn’t need to avenge his first love. There’s no need for him to do the bad things he’d done in the past. But if Emma is murdered then we’re in trouble, cue evil!Hook. Hehee. Also he’s trying to make his way in this world. He becomes more piratey (esp with Rumple) b/c that’s what he’s known for so long, you can’t just push that to one side and forget about it.

I love Rumple b/c he’s so complex. I’ve been sitting here for a good hour trying to put in words just what he is. He’s a victim of circumstance, yes. He’s a coward, yes. He’s a power hungry addict, yes. He’s a loving father, yes. He’s a loving (although lying) husband, yes. And he is a lot more things. It’s great I can’t quite work him out and I love him for that flaws and all. He’s a great character and as soon as I see him settling down into domesticity is when I tune out.

If one is to engage with the primordial forces of darkness, one must expect a little social awkwardness

This is what I posted in the 28 Days of Once thread for Favorite Canon Couple:

Day 13- Favourite Canon Ship (In-show Past or Present) – Captain Swan baby! It gives me happy tears nowadays when I reflect on how far Emma and Hook have come in their relationship since their early beginnings in season two. They weren’t enemies, per se, but on the opposite sides with different goals. But there was definitely a connection there in Tallahassee after that trip up the bean stalk. They were set up as Kindred Spirits for a reason, and I don’t think it’s coincidental at all that their journey this season (4a), parallel each other. Hook made a deal he didn’t quite understand and Emma did the same thing (ironically with the same person, Rumple). They both have walls but bit by bit, they’re breaking down them and falling in love with each other. The thing that attracted me to CS is the first adventure up the beanstalk, how impressed Hook was with her talents. He was in awe of what she could do from the start and looked at her as an equal, and he still does. He loves everything about her and he doesn’t take for granted that they’re in this relationship together. What they become, it’s as much up to Emma as it is to him (his words to Charming in 4×02). He builds up Emma’s confidence in herself, they understand each other, he makes her happy, they make each other happy and I know Emma isn’t quite as vocal about her feelings for Hook as he is for her, but I have every confidence that she’ll get there. I’ve been doing this ‘shipping thing for a long time and Captain Swan is seriously the most beautiful ‘ship I have ever ‘shipped because Emma and Hook could not be more perfect for each other. And I just feel by season’s end, something monumentally big is going to happen between these two.

My entry for 28 OUAT days about CS:

Day 13- Favourite Canon Ship (In-show Past or Present) Captain Swan I mostly do casual shipping ( if that’s even a thing). There are few ships I would call My OTPs and among them CaptainSwan is my true number 1. I adore Emma & Killian. Their love story is so beautifully written. Emma’s been hurt to many times hoping to find home, family and love. She needs somebody who has unwavering faith in her, because she deems herself unworthy of love etc.(hint: that’s why Snow Queen – and then Rumple- could so easily manipulate her). Somebody who will stand by her side no matter what, won’t let her push him away or be scared of all her emotional baggage. Someone who will always fight for her and would not fear to do everything for her. She’s been abandonded to many times. That’s what Killian does for her. He may be a broken soul but love has always been his guide. Hook had lost all hope every time he had lost a loved one . Emma is his ray of sunshine. She gave him hope, a purpose in his long and though life. She’s the reason he thought about his live before piracy. He saw her doing the right thing and being prepared to risk everything to do so. She reminded him that he can be a hero once again, that he can belong somewhere, have someone to care for. Someone he can try to be worthy of. Their story is a tale about two broken people, who are slowly making themselves whole again, by loving each other. The best therapy is the one that happens in real life(in that case in their real life). There is passion, understanding, intimacy, and growing commitment. They are perfect for each other.
