ParticipantI know a lot of my shipmates here don’t like to venture out into the forums much so I thought I’d post my theory of the death spoiler here for you all to see

ParticipantWe need to talk about something positive in this thread. My ‘hope’ metas started posting today. I look at ‘Heart of the Truest Believer’ first.

I like your theory, but one thing about it: H&K, true to their form, aren’t going to leave us too many loopholes to guess what’s going to happen. Yes, they did with Pan (filming that in public made it pretty obvious), but where they are concerned, I’m expecting them to pull something out from their sleeves we don’t expect. Adam hates spoilers. Being that we’ve had zero filming news the past couple of days, if MRJ is filming, I’d say quiet periods like right now, would be when that is taking place (in studio). Why the secrecy? Why that character? Not necessarilly because the matter refers to the character, but because the absence of an actor can make it appear it refers to that character….distract the public with that, and pull out the element of surprise later. If I were H&K, that’d be the way I’d be thinking. I’d be using those gears to my advantage for the ***gasp*** moment, later.
Who does that mean the death is? Being that they said we won’t know about the deal Hook made with Pan until next year, I am hoping that means we’ll have Hook around for the rest of this season, and to look forward to in season 4. That’s something I can get excited about.
We’ll see, though, You may be right. I’ll just be surprised, if H&K allowed for it to be so obvious, so far in advance of the episode where it actually happens.

ParticipantYAY!!! It works! THANK YOU very much @Stelio!
(I cant cgi you an awesome CS thank you pic- I’m not that tech savvy- so my smiley emoticons will have to do, sorry lol :p )
But it didn’t work??? It’s not in a white quote box.
My method is
- quote something
- replace quote (+numbers) with “spoiler” in the square brackets
- then click on the very start of the sentence (click beside the first square bracket)
- then press “blockquote” which is next to the italic button in your writing box
Try it!!! 🙂

Participant@SK – great summary of everything. Right now with the evidence we have it indicates that Neal is dead. Would be happy to be proven wrong but that’s it really.
@Sarah_TN – I know what you’re saying about A&E wanting to surprise us, but at the same time, hiding Neal away in studios until the end of the season? Not fighting with everyone? Not spending time with his son? Not going after Emma? It’s WAAAAY fishy to me. Most fans don’t keep track of filming and will be COMPLETELY blindsighted by this death. Honestly, right now, all signs point to Neal, and as you say, both Hook and Belle, the other two likely candidates to die, will have backstory in season 4. And A&E have already said that when this character is dead – he won’t be appearing again I believe.I’m actually quite numb to this spoiler now, not happy about it but not that sad anymore either. It just is. I’m actually glad they released it early.

ParticipantThanks everybody im so glad I haven’t had to deal with anything but constructive criticism about my theory so far. I TRULY tried to be objective in coming to a conclusion and only include direct evidence from spoilers that you can only get if you had been following everything that has been coming out. I know I might be getting some attention from angry Baelfire fans based on the conclusion but the whole point was to be objective and follow clear evidence.

ParticipantAwesome, it looks like I have a very good theory and a meta to keep my brain busy this weekend! Can’t wait to read them! I might have something to post in a bit…I’m rolling Emma’s use of the word “good” in 3×11 and my suspicion that she knows Hook well enough to know that very word is the one he needs to not just give up hope but actively look for a way to find her…hmmm…a re-watch is in order.

I guess I could. 😉
So, I did this thing, where I went back to season one and continued through season two and 3A, looking for all instances of ‘hope’ or a variation of the theme in dialogue. During the hiatus, in addition to other things, I’m going to look at hope and the context of how it was used throughout this first half.
First up, episode 3×01 “The Heart of the Truest Believer.”
After JR6 travel from Storybrooke to Neverland, there’s a conversation between Hook and Regina as Hook’s sailing the ship:
Hook: My plan is to bring us to the far side of the island, link up with the widest part of the river, then we sail right through and take him by surprise. The irony.
Regina: What irony?
Hook: Oh. I spent more time than I care to remember trying to leave this place to kill Rumpelstiltskin. And here I am, sailing right back into its heart with him as my guest of honor. It’s not quite the happy ending I was hoping for.
Before we move onto the second half here, it’s important to note Hook’s reflection on the recent change of events. His revenge was his hope for salvation for 300 years. He strongly believed if he succeeded in killing Rumple, it would make him happy but he started to realize in The Evil Queen, if he did succeed, he would still be alone and have wasted his life in the process. He thought his happy ending would be different, that killing Rumple would be his happy ending but it’s not.
Regina: Greg Mendell said something funny to me. He said I’m a villain, and that villains don’t get happy endings. You believe that?
Hook: I hope not. Or we’ve wasted our lives. This is also interesting foreshadowing, considering what happens in the winter finale and Rumple’s sacrifice. But back to Hook here. Adam and Eddie teased, “…He’s a hero trapped in a villain’s body or a villain trapped in a hero’s body. I don’t know which one it is yet.”
Turns out, he was a hero all long trapped in a villains body, but most importantly, he doesn’t want to see himself as a villain anymore but a hero. And he strongly hopes with that statement, that he hasn’t wasted his life and he still has a chance at true love in the future.
Then, we have the camera pan from Hook and Regina to Emma. Because Emma is his hope, for a possible happy ending. He doesn’t know it yet and doesn’t realize he loves her until 3×05 but she’s is happy ending and true love. He has hope because of her and she has hope because of him.
