Okay…Now…I have a question. Did the Dark Curse get ret-conned. Oh … something getting ret-conned in ONCE SAY IT ISN”T SO (He said in a sarcastic tone). But!
Now…I base my evidence off of Episode Two of Season 1 so already it’s flimsy at best. But when Mal and Regina are talking Mal ask Regina who gave her the Dark Curse. But last person she saw had was Rumpel…So why didn’t she put two and together. She also asked who created. Now this I can buy, because they didn’t say who created the Dark Curse. I have the clip with me as of now so people can go over it. But then again it was only episode 2. So you know…

He then added his own modifications, hence “creating” the curse.

Okay…I can buy that.

It’s a retcon it seems.
Its another on of those just don’t think about it too hard things

March 2, 2015 at 12:18 pm #297299SlurpeezParticipantI’m going to cast my vote and say this is a ret-con of the dark curse.
Maleficent didn’t know who created this dark monstrosity of a curse, but said whoever had made it, made her and Regina seem almost moral.
The show-runners have said multiple times that Rumple is the creator of the dark curse.
Now it turns out that Rumple didn’t create the dark curse, but stole it by using Mal, Ursula and Cruella as bait.
One can try and explain away the discontinuities like Rumple merely modified the dark curse, and Mal was playing dumb, but it shouldn’t fall to the audience to come up with head-canon for such glaring contradictions.

Actually he doesn’t
Mr. Gold: Baelfire, is his name. After he left, I dedicated myself to finding him. I went down many, many paths. Until I found a curse that could take me to the land where he’d escaped.
Belle: Here.
In other episodes he has said created, and A and E have said that before as well. But the Croc isn’t one of those episodes

But still, for the past 3.5 seasons, we as an audience had been led to believe Rumple created the curse in order to find Baelfire, now all of a sudden that’s changed…..although it would explain why Rumple was trying alternative means…..however, what was Rumple doing for the last century and a half if not crafting the dark curse? Twiddling his thumbs?

Keeper of FelixMarch 2, 2015 at 4:53 pm #297325RumplesGirlKeymasterI think more than a retcon this proves that the writers have never had a solid idea of how the DC and Rumple relate to each other. It’s always been back and forth–either it existed and he manipulated it, or he created it, or he found it…and so on and so forth. They played fast and loose until they finally came down on one side in this episode
