I noticed something interesting, that was mentioned two times during this episode: first when Black fairy was talking to Rumple, and then when Tiger Lily was talking to Hook.
    .
    Here are the relevant quotes:
    .
    Black fairy & Rumple:
    .
I won’t force you to do anything.
When you join me, it will be because you want to.
Is that why you’re here? Because I will never join you.
Oh, when the darkness comes, you’ll change your mind.
And then, Rumplestiltskin, we can finally be the family we were always meant to be.
     .
     .
    Tiger Lily & Hook:
     .
You expect for me to believe that Killian Jones fell in love? This isn’t driftwood.
    It’s a weapon.
And it’s the only chance we have of winning the coming war.
Whatever war there is, it isn’t mine to fight.
There’s a great darkness on the horizon, Hook.
If you don’t do what I’m asking, the Savior will die.
     .
    .
This makes it sound like the “final battle” is about some kind of Darkness coming, that will possibly affect all realms.  And that Black fairy is making various preparations so that she (and anyone on her side) can benefit from this (or at least be shielded).  And that everyone else will suffer.
     .
    There are two possibilities.
     .
    1) The coming “darkness” is something that Black fairy is working to bring about, either to benefit her, or punish others, or both.  In this case stopping Black fairy would stop the “darkness”.
     .
    2) The other possibility is that the “darkness” is coming no matter what, and Black fairy is merely preparing to use it to her advantage.  If that is the case, then perhaps this is something that all fairies know about, which would explain why Tiger Lily knows.  I also wonder if this darkness is controlled by / embodiment of someone other than Black fairy?  A potential ally of hers?  Someone she means to appease?  Immovable force of nature?
     .
    Food for thought.

On a sillier note, each time they mentioned “the Darkness” is coming, my mind turned it into “the Nothing”, LOL!  I can’t be the only one who though that, having grown up watching the Never-ending Story!  😀

Keeper of Anna’s Awkward Babbling and Kristoff’s Fur-trimmed Tunic!

My initial thought when Black Fairy said to Rumple, ‘when the darkness comes, you’ll change your mind’
was that she was casting another dark curse (since she wrote the first one it seems) and that Rumple would get new cursed memories that would make him side with her. But with Tigerlily also saying something about a coming darkness, that makes me think maybe it’s even bigger than the dark curse and perhaps just having the Black Fairy cross over into Storybrooke uncorked the darkness bottle or something and it’s now able to leave it’s isolated island of darkness and spread across all the realms.

So maybe the answer is to re-cork the bottle by re-banishing The Black Fairy to her dark realm.

    ^ Interesting, that makes sense!

it’s now able to leave it’s isolated island of darkness and spread across all the realms.

I wonder if this could possibly have anything to do with the end of all magic. It’s a fairly commonly used trope, and it could theoretically affect every realm… Especially if magic had anything at all to do with Black Fairy losing her chance to have her son. Like, she gave him up for magic related reasons and has been trying to undo that ever since. Stealing babies, destroying all magic forever…
