I recently got the season 1 DVD set of OUAT, and during my rematch of The Stranger I noticed something about that one husky kid named Gordy during the flashback of the orphanage. He kinda looks like he could be a younger version of Jorge Garcia, and he’s supposed to show up in at least one episode under the nickname The Giant. I’ve been thinking that it could be possible that Gordy grows up to become The Giant, and is somehow related to the show’s version of Jack and the Beanstalk. And since August/Pinnochio decided to take Gordy’s offer to leave the orphanage with him and the others, the story may also involve August as well.
Who do you think the Jorge Garcia/The Giant will be?

You know, that ties things together quite interestingly! Didn't realize the kid had a name. Enough people have already questioned if Baelfire and August know each other (and are working together) during season 1. Since I want Baelfire to be Jack – I kind of like the idea that the kid that tempted Pinnochio to leave Emma was also Jack's Giant – maybe whatever happened between Gordy and August/Bae bonded them???

Thanks for this theory, Dorothy. I never thought about it before even though I really wanted a young Baelfire to be seen in the orphanage in The Return except for the fact that I don’t want him to be 14 years older than Emma, at least not if he’s Henry’s father because then their prior relationship comes off as skeevy, imo.
Here’s a link to a picture of the young actor that played Gordy, http://www.tvrage.com/person/id-370724/Isaiah+Lehtinen. He does look like someone that could turn into “the Giant” later on. (Hopefully if the young actor finds this or one of his family members finds this, I mean that in a purely positive way of course.)

Yes, I never knew that he had an actual name until now either!
I really do like the idea that all 3 of the characters that escaped the Curse ended up in foster care because I do think that's how Bae and Emma may have originally met, at least based on some of the snippets from The Daily Mirror and speculation about how she ended up being arrested in Phoenix, Arizona if the incident happened in Massachusetts.
I’m not sure if these are really clues are not to Gordie being the Giant, but the name Gordie means large fortification.
The name Gordie reminds me of the word gourd, which means
any of a family (Cucurbitaceae, the gourd family) of chiefly herbaceous tendril-bearing vines including the cucumber, melon, squash, and pumpkin
, which could be a reference to the beanstalk and/or how Henry’s dad loved pumpkin pie so much.
Or could be a reference to someone being thought of as crazy (out of their gourd), perhaps Gordie goes crazy later on or maybe Emma thought Henry’s father was out of his gourd depending on why she thinks to negatively of him.
Or Gordie could also be a reference to someone being gored. There was that weird bull fighter reference that August made in one of the deleted scenes. Why they picked bull fighting to use I don’t know, but maybe it’s clue to Gordie or what he becomes or what happens to him later in life.

MY MIND IS BLOWN! WOW!
I don’t see how Baelfire would not have ended up in the system (assuming he’s alive and currently an adult around mid-30s…)
Honestly, Pinocchio wasn’t my favorite movie growing up, so I had to google the film..thought I remembered Pinocchio meeting up with a gang of boys and stealing…
From Wikipedia:
On his way (to Pleasure Island) he befriends Lampwick, a misbehaved and destructive boy. Soon Pinocchio and the other boys begin to enjoy gambling, smoking, getting drunk and destroying Pleasure Island..the island harbours a terrible curse which turns boys who “make jackasses of themselves” into real donkeys, who are then sold to work…
Was going to go into the possibility that Bae came into the group later (maybe Gordy recruits other orphans often?) and that Gordy was the leader of the gang…but now I’m just interested in the name ‘Lampwick’…..

Secondly, should it be moved to the spoiler section?Dorothy, that’s a great catch and I LOVE this idea of Gordie being The Giant!

The thing that kept me from buying into Bae and August knowing each other and/or working together was that I just couldn't figure how they'd have met. But this new idea of Gordie being the Giant could explain it rather perfectly if he had contact with both of them due to them all being orphans, (obviously I'm also on team Jack = Bae, so am expecting the Giant to be part of Bae's story).
If it were the case that Gordie is our Giant and Bae is our Jack, obviously the story will play out differently to the famous fairytale, because in that story, Jack was a child and the Giant wasn't, and the Giant ended up dead. In our version, they'd be close in age, and we'll see the Giant in the present day. I guess we'd be introduced to him at the same time we meet adult Bae/Jack. Maybe they're still friends and end up coming to town together? Wouldn't that be interesting, especially if they did know August, until he ran off to explore the world and find his Pleasure Island, and now the gang will have a little reunion in SB. Or maybe we'll meet Jack and the Giant outside SB, and something will happen that will result in Jack killing him, (they said Jorge's only in 1 ep after all), and after that he'll find his way to SB. If Jack/Bae and August did know each other at one time, that'd be a way they could work August into season 2. Maybe Jack/Bae could end up in SB because he's looking for his old friend after the Giant dies.

Wikipedia sez that the character was originally Candlewick in the book:

I keep thinking back when Eion Bailey was still going to be a regular that there was going to be a love triangle between Bae, Emma, and August, and that it would be complicated because I believed that Bae and August were friends from before because of episode “The Return”. However, now that they've dropped him to recurring status, I don't think there will be a love triangle anymore at least between those three, but I agree that I think August will be worked into season 2 through Jack.
I think Emma and Henry will have more pressing things on their minds besides what happened to him, and once the truth does come out about the wardrobe, Snow and Charming will probably try to stay far away from August, Gepetto, and the Blue Fairy at least until a crisis brings them together, which I don't see happening until at the very earliest near the end of this season. True, August didn't have anything to do with what happened, but I still think it's a good reason as to why he's not around the main characters like he was last season. Rumple also has more pressing issues to deal with it seems, and I can't see Rumple trying to use August anymore now that Emma already believes. Of course, he's never interacted with Regina, and I can't see him doing that now if he wants to remain a real person. So I think he's going to have very few options as to how he appears, but with Bae likely being connected to the main cast because he's Henry's father, I could see them pairing off Bae and August together especially if they knew each other from before. They could just have him pop up sometimes when Bae needed help with something, and then pop out as needed.
As I stated before, I think that when he was still a regular, I think they were going to have a love triangle between Bae, Emma, and him, and I think along with that I believe August would have had a more prominent role again working with Emma and Henry mainly. After his status was bumped down, I think they went a different direction and bumped up the timetable for Henry's father to return. I could be totally wrong, but aside from a spoiler, that I only saw at one place about Gepetto reuniting with August, and no sign of Eion Bailey on set at all, since the actress that plays Granny tweeted that she missed him, it seems like they've totally written the character out because even recurring characters have been given more to do so far this season.
So I'm thinking that they're building things up for the big Jack reveal when Emma finally returns, and just have August be tied mainly to Jack after August plays out his big stories about becoming human again and how he ended up escaping the Curse.

I’m in the “Bae is Henry’s father” club too, but that’s also my #1 concern. A grown man having a relationship with a barely legal teenager is just creepy. That’s why I’m hoping that Bae came through at a later time than Pinocchio and Emma did.
The next time we see Bae I’m sure he will be emotionally scarred, but he’ll still be the same brave, headstrong kid we saw before. And Gordy struck me as being an active leader, since he was the one leading the other kids out of the orphanage. If Bae does turn out to be Jack and Gordy turns out to be our giant, I can see these two strong-willed kids butting heads over making decisions for their group. Maybe the reason Jack is described as running from his past is because he got into a fight with Gordy and he ended up badly injured or dead?
