So assuming that Kathryn is still in possession of her heart, then whose heart was planted as evidence to frame Mary-Margaret? My question is this. When the Huntsmen gave the Evil Queen the heart of stag in place of Snow White’s ( in the Heart is a Lonely Hunter ) what became of this heart? Would it be possible for Regina to use this heart as the stand-in for Kathryn’s?

I think they should make Regina hold “Kathryn’s” heart and we should see if it glows. We have only seen two women of magic hold those hearts. Maybe if you don’t have magic, they don’t glow.

That would be helpful, for sure.
Though now we play the waiting game to see if our theories in regards to magic-users & their correlation to hearts rings true.

I think the heart is one of Regina’s many magic hearts from her vault.

Perhaps there are two hearts for each person? Maybe the curse split the people into different personalities giving them their weaker traits in “reality” because they don’t have the “right” heart and they can only regain who they are by finding their real one or their hearts desire? That’s a bit of a stretch but that was just something I thought of.

I was thinking something similar: I was thinking that each person has a heart in the body, and then another, corresponding heart in the boxes that Regina has control over. By destroying the heart in the box, the person can die.
Of course, this is just my speculation.

Or maybe it’s someone else’s heart and Regina just tampered with the DNA results. It’s certainly something she could do…

EdChambers, your theory is good too.

Remember that Regina did take care of the shovel. I imagine hacking a DNA machine isn’t something out of her league. SHe’s had almost three full decades to learn, anyway. 😉

Who told us that it was Kathryn’s heart? Just Emma, right?

I think so. I don’t remember anyone else saying it.

While not downplaying the significance of the heart not being Kathryn’s – because that is huge – but does anyone care about this shovel?

We know it’s not the same one because Emma had the missing piece.

Not a huge deal, but something to consider.
