I hope that the theory about Ariel’s true love is Caption Hook becomes true and we’ll get to see Ariel in season 3. Take a look my username and you will obviously tell I’m a fishhooker as well along with a Frankenwolf/Red Whale shipper.

I believe that the character that will be hinted in the season 2 finale but won't appear until season 3 is Ariel by the way.

Keeper of Tamara's death, Cyrus's bottle, Ariel's red hair, and the mermaid that got turned into a statue in the season 3 premiere episode.

Me too!! Though in Second Star to the right when Bae fell into the water I totally was hoping for Ariel to be the one to save him lol

Well I love Ariel and look forward to seeing what they do with her. I agree that she could be a very fun character, especially interacting with Hook.

I would prefer that she be with Eric and they generally go with Disney so far as the pairings we grew up with so I’m not sure they’d change that or if I’d want Hook to also be Eric (I totally agree on the Tom Welling thing!) but it could be interesting and I see why people believe them to be connected.

The only question I’d have about the fact that she’s hanging out in Mermaids Lagoon in Neverland is that if she’s been there all this time, why hasn’t he moved on with her before? Why would it happen now?

I’m a huge CaptainSwan fan (and haven’t given up hope just yet!) but since they’ve been pushing SwanFire at us for awhile now (and I get the appeal though my preferances are different), Hookriel / FishHook could potentially be a good 2nd choice. I love Hook and want to see him with someone I actually like and nobody who is on the show right now fits the bill for that.

I’m a little hesitant to ship him with someone we haven’t seen on the show yet because a) we don’t know how they’re going to portray her, especially what age! and b) we haven’t seen how they interact, if they have chemistry etc etc but the idea is an intriguing one and I like the connections with Mermaids Lagoon and the pirate ship etc etc.

I will definitely be keeping this ship in mind if I’m forced to find somebody new for Hook and if it doesn’t appear we’re getting Eric as I doubt they’d start mish-mashing now when they haven’t before.

I’ve loved all the mermaid references so far and hope we get some more in the finale, maybe even a glimpse of one. Should (hopefully) be definite for S3 though. I think they waited to bring her in until they had a chance to set up Hook which should have happened last year (grr) but it makes it more likely that her connection starts in Neverland for sure. Here’s hoping we get more to work with soon! *Fingers crossed*

Rumpel is a character from his own fairy tale that they merged into Beast to introduce Belle. That is an exact parallel to what making Hook into Eric would be.

Here are some of the mishmashes:
Cora is the Miller’s Daughter from the tale Rumpelstilskin. She’s also the Queen of Hearts, from Alice in Wonderland. While the original tale of Snow White doesn’t feature the EQ’s mother, Cora is that too.

Genie (or a Genie because I refuse to believe he was Aladdin’s Genie!) is also the Magic Mirror.

Rumpel was also the “crocodile” from Peter Pan.

Ruby was both the wolf and little Red.

Snow meeting Red might have been a nod to Snowwhite and Rose Red ‘s fairy tale.

They don’t always combine two iconic classic/fairytale characters in one ONCE character, but they clearly have done so several times.

I think I could enjoy it if they did a blend with Eric and Hook, depending on how they do it.

Oh I’m aware that they like to mash them together, I’m just not positive about the Hook / Eric thing since there’s also the Killian Jones angle they have yet to dive into. I’m not sure I see him as Eric just yet but then again I didn’t see Rumple working as the beast when I first saw the Skin Deep promo either so stranger things have happened.

I still love CaptainSwan but if push comes to shove and Ariel is an appropriate age, has chemistry with Hook etc etc I may learn to love it. Hook’s one of my favorite characters and I just don’t see him with anybody currently on the show other than Emma so we need some new blood but not somebody random either. Ariel would fit if done right but again we don’t know who’s playing her, what age etc etc so I’ll wait to officially dive in. (Still really liked the Tom Welling idea for Eric though lol, but if Eric does also have to be Hook then I am 100% in on Colin – adore him).

I see, fair enough if you don’t like the mash up technique or are unsure it would play out well for Hook. The age is a good point–if a young teenage actress is cast, I would also be uncomfortable watching an actor Colin’s age in a romantic relationship with her.

I don’t have a problem with the mashups in general and was pleasantly surprised by the ones we’ve seen so far (other than genie, I still want be believe sidney is JafarGenie and not Genie himself) so if they do mash up Eric and Hook I’m sure it would be great. I just don’t currently see it yet (but like I said, I didn’t see how rumple / beast would work either and it works beautifully).

The age thing is the sticking point. I love Colin/Hook but I don’t want him to be backburnered off Emma for an underage mermaid! Hoping that Ariel is aged a bit just because most of the others should have been teenagers as well (which in the time they were written was fine, not so much for modern day, hence everybody else being aged up) so she may be older which would be good.

Once we actually see Ariel and get some interaction with Hook we’ll have more to go on. I just hope it’s not another case of people getting their hopes up for say…WoodenSwan and then it being absolutely impossible and people thinking we’re crazy for ever considering it (darn de-aging magic lol – not that I was WS shipper but I did like August).
