PoM, I like your theory. And it would kind of mirror Neal’s wanting to get back to his family in another realm (only let’s hope for a happy ending for Neal). And it would address the bigger issue of what is going on with all the families that Regina torn asunder. They couldn’t all have gone back to their old partners and been happy. I bet a number of people woke up and discovered their curse spouse/partner is actually better than their FTL spouse. Not all matches in the Enchanted Forest could have been love matches, and even if they were, what do you do when you have conflicting feelings. With David, they skimmed it, but he was already having problems with Katherine and his heart was never in the relationship to begin with. He was always being pulled to Mary Margaret from the time he awoke from his coma. But were there couples who came to love each other during their cursed lives? This theory would be a great way to explore that. Heck, that’s a great plot bunny for fanfiction *whispers to herself not to write it, not to write it*

I think they’re had to be couples or families who came to care for one another. One thing that bothered me about “Lady of the Lake” was they had Grace and Jefferson reunite and it was very touching and sweet but what about the family that clothed and sheltered her for 28 years, they were the next door neighbors in FTL and by the looks of things they did deeply care for Paige/Grace. But the Curse was really designed to take away the TL of the royalty and their friends so the common folk may not have been affected. But if Eric is a prince in OUAT then I’d say he probably ended up with Vanessa in SB. Everyone says that won’t stray from the TLM lore but Disney strays from it majorly so really OUAT can take any path they want and say “go read the original.” This is not happily ever after.

Her curse parents would’ve been expecting her back from school. I do think Grace’s curse parents were aware that Grace was looking for Jefferson since she made a flyer. Perhaps Grace got Jefferson to contact her curse parents so they could sort everything out.

Keeper of FelixAugust 28, 2013 at 12:59 pm #207043kfchimeraParticipantI see Hook and Emma as like Regina and Charming. It’s not “best friends” at all, but Charming was able to reach a truce state, with almost sympathy and trust for Regina when Snow was in FTL.
I don’t like a “rebound” story for Hook and Ariel. I’d prefer it to be more thematically–accepting yourself for who you are, fishtail and love of piracy and all.

August 28, 2013 at 1:05 pm #207044PriceofMagicParticipantCharming had entered into a truce state with Regina, yet when Snow returned he was back to wanting Regina to keep her distance. Perhaps that’s why Regina went back to Cora so easily, she’d done nothing wrong since Snow went to FTL yet they were accusing her of murdering Archie which is what Cora wanted.

Keeper of FelixAugust 28, 2013 at 1:06 pm #207045RumplesGirlKeymasterExactly. Hook isn’t going to give up his pirating blood, it’s who he is. Ariel has a love of adventure and is a free spirit, refusing to conform to the norms of her culture. They belong together.

Yes, Charming did turn on Regina, and my point is, that is how Emma feels about Hook. She does NOT have unwavering faith in him, but she is willing to put differences aside for her son’s welfare. He might earn more trust on this mission, as might Regina and Gold, but it is not a certainty. Some of us see these characters very differently than they see each other. We keep filtering by our hopes for the Big Happy Family Ending, that we wish them to reach. Remember that script tease “can I call you Grandpa now?” And how RC delivered the response so coldly?
I think Ariel may very well be quite a dark story, like Red’s was.

August 28, 2013 at 2:17 pm #207057RumplesGirlKeymasterAgreed, Ariel’s gotta a dark story. Especially if her family are a bunch of soul sucking/flesh eating/man drowning/nightmare creatures.
They are both in search of finding a family, a place where they belong. Ariel is an outcast from her family, the merfolk. Hook doesn’t quite fit in with the CharMillStiltskins. They need something to ground them but also excite them and allows them to indulge in their wild free spirit side!
A pirate and a mermaid! I mean come on! It screams perfect.
