The story finds Ariel (JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who will appear in a handful of episodes) rescuing one of the ABC fantasy’s regular characters before experiencing her own adventure, which incorporates elements from the 1989 animated Disney classic.
No mention of Anderson.

They don’t mention Barrie in any of the PP articles either.
*shrug* ONCE isn’t the Diseny films brought to real live action. A and E will give us something familiar and totally different at the same time."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"September 23, 2013 at 9:29 am #211575kfchimeraParticipantWe’ll have to see–there are people who think Eric is with Regina because he is recurring and a new character and Ariel was signed for “at least” a few rather than “ongoing minor role”. They think Ariel fades off away or gets killed.
So everyone looks at things different ways, but plenty of people, like Slurpeez and Obisgirl are rooting for the Disneyfied version and I think they’d be more likely to do that then Regina-as-Ursula-vanessa gets the guy.

September 23, 2013 at 9:31 am #211577obisgirlParticipantThe article also mentioned that Ariel will also appear in several episodes. 2×06 is only her introductory episode.
OMG, why would you want to kill Ariel?
September 23, 2013 at 9:34 am #211578PheeParticipantThere are only two people who know exactly what Ariel’s story is gonna be at this point, and they’re not gonna give it ALL away in interviews. Her present day situation already has us all scratching our heads, so who knows what other twists they have planned.

Well none of us. If anything the people in this thread want her to be very much alive.

I totally agree. And until then, ship and let ship and speculate all things.

1) Eric is in SB
2) Regina is Ursula but not Vanessa
3) Vanessa and Eric are married.I think at some point Regina went to NL and granted Ariel’s wish to be human. She gave her legs and Ariel and Eric had a whirlwind romance. But then the Curse happened. And just before they were due to be married, Regina pulled Eric from NL and placed him in SB. We know she brought who she wanted. She brought Jefferson from WL just to make him suffer. She brought Whale from LWC for the same reason. Why not bring someone from NL? Maybe her deal with Ariel didn’t go as planned, maybe like Ursula, she hopped Ariel would fail to entice Eric. But when Ariel did, Regina sought revenge by pulling them apart. So she brought Eric to SB where she cursed him to be married to Vanessa, thinking himself very happily in love. But when the curse broke, Eric realized that he was truly in love with Vanessa. Happily married and probably never to see Ariel again, they continue to live out their lives.
Ariel comes to SB with a message for Belle from Rumple and goes in search of Eric. She and Eric realize that too much has changed and they aren’t right for each other anymore. It is also around this time and Emma and Neal have been reunited and they are doing their TL thing, Hook having stepped aside once he realized that he and Emma are better off as best friends. But still Hook feels alone. Everyone seems to have settled into their comfy lives in SB, but he misses adventure and the high seas. He meets Ariel one night at the Rabbit Hole and the discuss how much they both love to travel and how they long to see other worlds. Hook still have some pixie dust left over and asks Ariel to be his first mate.
Around this time, some disaster strikes and the whole cast needs to get out of SB and go to Oz; Ariel agrees to go with (because I don’t want to see either one written off the show). Ariel and Hook began a budding courtship based on their shared love of adventure. They and the rest of our CharMillStiltskin family sail off for parts unknown."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"September 24, 2013 at 6:41 am #211753PheeParticipantNow that we know there’s gonna be a Rumple and MermaidAriel scene, I’m questioning all sorts of Ariel related stuff all over again, (for the 50 frillionth time). Does this confirm that Ariel has dealt with both Rumple and Regina at different times? If so, when and in which world(s)? In one of the pics of Belle and Ariel outside Mr Gold’s, Ariel has the “WHOA” face, like she’s seeing our world for the first time, so I don’t think she’s been in SB during the Curse. We know we have people in FTL in present day, as well as in NL present day. I’m guessing that her time with Eric was spent in FTL, but does that mean she can’t have been in NL in present day, before going to SB? Is it possible that her meeting with Rumple is how she got legs, and her meeting with Regina is how she ended up back in NL? Also, are mermaids gonna age differently to humans?
Could Ariel have fallen for Eric a few hundred years ago, and made a deal with Rumple to become human, (maybe she gets him squid ink in exchange for legs)? The deal was to get him to fall for her within a certain time limit, and if he didn’t, she goes back to the ocean, (that would be in keeping with Disney). So Ariel doesn’t manage to get Eric to fall for her within the time limit, and becomes a mermaid again, and because she’s now a mermaid again, if they’re written to age differently than humans, could she have been hanging around FTL for a few hundred years, until the time she meets and saves Snow, and then makes some other sort of deal with Regina, maybe to get back home to NL if she’s stuck in FTL? If yes to a situation like that, then Eric’s not alive any more in present day, and Ariel and Hook have it in common that they lost their love a few hundred years ago and are both in a position to be looking for someone new.
Or, another tangent on making mermaids age differently, perhaps her “price” was that she could appear to be human, but still ages like a mermaid, so even if she gets the guy, they don’t get to be together forever because he’s gonna age and die before she will, (they kinda touched on that theme a teeny tiny bit with Lacey wanting Rumple to make her live forever too), and when he dies, she automatically becomes a mermaid again because the spell has served its purpose. So in that scenario, maybe Ariel and Eric do get together, but when he dies, she returns to the ocean. And then it joins up with the idea in the previous paragraph about hanging around, alive, as a mermaid, for a few hundred years in FTL.
Or, mermaids don’t age differently at all and Ariel and Eric’s story happens during the time of Snow and Co, and I’ll get to question everything all over again. 😛

I do think it is possible they might do that, but do not want them to do it that way if Ariel dies or dives into the sea sad, or is made to be the real villain so Regina can be a hero.
Most of us sailing along here have pretty simple common concepts.
Ariel is one of my most favorite characters EVER in Disney-Princess verse and want her main cast
Eric is not my most favorite Prince
Pirate/mermaid love of the sea
Unrequited/lost love finds love again.
She will be feisty, adventurous and adorable
He will be reforming but still sneakyI think it is like covers of songs you know. Sometimes you hate it if the artists transform it but sometimes that is part of the fun and beauty of creativity to change things around.
I don’t want Eric to die, as originally I thought they would do a mash into Hook. They aren’t so now I think that to keep sailing on, that Eric and Ariel need to part in a way that sets her up to be looking for new love.
If they are happy together or estranged over some trick Regina pulled and not a real issue in their relationship dynamics, then I would root for them to get back together. Since we do not know how the writers are doing it, it is fun to speculate.
I like the immortal idea–it could play into parallels on Belle’s thoughts on the future with Rumple if the curse does not break. Since we know these two princesses will be hanging out .
