Enchanted trees have to be enchanted by something or somebody.  Maybe Merlin can enchant a tree.

And there are no more enchanted trees in the EF according to the BF and there are none in SB.

Henry could always use the timber from the Jolly Roger, which Hook said was made from enchanted wood, to carve a new quill.

Okay, this thread is kind of tackling the biggest issue i had with Season 4B.

If the Author’s only job was to record, then why did he have the power to change so much? What’s the difference between recording with the quill vs. recording with a pencil. Was the Author given such powerful magic for his own protection?

The Apprentice seemed delighted when Henry broke the quill. It was almost as if being given the quill is a test, a test that Henry passed.

The Apprentice: “It seems we’ve finally found the right person for the job.”

That line sort of hints at a history of failed Authors, so if being given the quill is a test, what does Henry get for passing it? Is he a new type of Author? Is he someone the Apprentice and Sorcerer have been searching for, waiting for the right candidate to appear?

While I loved seeing Henry become the Author, I imagine his new title will be about as relevant as his old title (Heart of the Truest Believer) once season 5 premiers.

Yes I don’t think it’s ever going to play out in any significant way past this finale.

When did we become so pessimistic? I guess it was somewhere in season 3.

Do you think Henry becoming the Author and “undoing” the AU is how Henry also became Rumple’s “undoing”?

This “Author” plot device never made any sense to me outside of just using it as a way to explain how Henry is Rumple’s undoing. Otherwise – I don’t really get it…are the fairy tale stories in repeat? I mean – the story of Snow White for example, was told and retold many times… even during Walt Disney’s lifetime.

Yeah and Walt Disney certainly wasnt the first one to record it. And he (and the Grimm brothers) didn’t even record what OUAT showed us! The Disney and the Grimm version of Snow White for instance…different in many many respects from OUAT

I think Henry will be tempted to influence the story after all, now that his mother is the new Dark One.

I most definitely agree. His determination to be the author as it should be and the turmoil of watching his mother do bad things will definitely put Henry to the test…to try to refrain from re-writing bad events that involve the ones he loves.

    Don't grow up. It's a trap.

Maybe but he has no means to do so.
