My favourite part of this episode was the performance of the Master in disguise, whom I shall call Zathras.
The ship was a beautifully creepy setting. A setting like that deserves a full novel, not just a couple of episodes.
Re: Bill’s conversion: In a show where realistic world simulation computers are a thing, I don’t trust what I see on my screen. The Doctor has had this longstanding dilemma of “Can Missy be trusted?”, and he had access to Monk technology for several months. You see where I’m going with this. For most shows, this’d be overthinking it, but the Grand Moff likes his convoluted series arcs, revisiting things from earlier in the season.

Oh! Wow. That’s quite clever and totally something Moff would do.
ETA: okay the more I think about it the more I think you’re right. It’s very Moffat to kill a character tragically only to reveal some sort of twist that brings them back (Rory, Clara, Danny Pink).
It would also explain why the Master is there because while it’s great to see him, the timeline of it all is quite messed up and doesn’t gel. So this is the Doctor putting Missy through the ultimate test–can she really be good when her quite evil former self is standing there poking her with a stick.
I think you’re right…

Same. The thought hadn’t occurred to me, but now – Yeah that seems completely possible.
This has been my favourite episode this series and I hope they don’t mess the ending up like they did the Monk trilogy.
I loved seeing the genesis of the Cybermen and I want this to stick. I haven’t connected to Bill, but it’s just that I want an emotional payoff to stick. I am one of the weird ones that LOVED Clara, yet I was so angry that they cheapened the emotional death by bringing her back. Sometimes people have good deaths and I wish they would give them that. LOL
Also, I had NO idea that was Simm in the hair and prosthetics.

I wonder if Moffat likes puns, because there’d be one implied in this plot.

I like that it’s a tip of the hat to the Master’s old habits, from Time-Flight (1982).

June 26, 2017 at 6:55 pm #339788Ranisha PittsParticipant@shaunak I love Clara, I adore Clara, I cried buckets of tears when she died. I also felt the same way when they brought her back.
However, I adore Bill very much so, and honestly don’t want her to remain a Cyberman. Her being a Cyberman or remaining a Cyberman doesn’t saddens me it simply pisses me off. All I want the doctor to do is FIX THIS!
There is only one ending I would accept for Bill, well two, she live her life with this new knowledge like Martha or she rejoins/bonds with Heather.
Bill admitted she was to scared to join Heather, however perhaps she will be able to brave that path after all she learned with the Doctor.
But seriously maybe its just me but I think its FAR TOO SOON to lose Bill I mean honestly we barely got to scratch the surface with her and she is what gone just like that. Not to mention Bill seems to be doing quite well with the Whovians, I mean there are some who are not big fan of Bill. Overall it seems her reception was well received despite the doubts that most initial had when she was first introduce. I don’t know Bill just seems like a likable person. I want to know Bill. I want to be friends with Bill. Hang out with her, talk about the lastest sci-fi action fantasy movies over some chips.

June 27, 2017 at 12:34 pm #339808shaunakParticipantI feel like I SHOULD like Bill. She ticks all my boxes. I just haven’t been able to warm to her. I don’t know why. She drove me crazy in Eaters of Light when she kept insisting that she knew the history of the Ninth better than The Doctor. I think it was the speech about knowing her face in The Pilot. I think something about that speech just irked me and I haven’t been able to move past it. She has moments that I enjoy, but I just can’t warm to her as a character.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you see things, we don’t all have to love the same companions. 🙂

Yeah true, I am not a major Fan of Rose. 😀
Bill insisting she knew more about the 9th with the Doctor. I thought that was more as playful banter. But I do recall shaking my head and laughing like Bill you read about them but the Doctor more than likely actually with them. hahahahhaha

June 28, 2017 at 3:29 pm #339824shaunakParticipantHahaha I didn’t like Rose either. Well, I DID in Series 1 with Nine. I did NOT like her with Ten.
