OOH I’m even more excited than I was before if that is possible. Do we want to try and guess what the second borrow is?
Given that it’s a Master heavy episode, I think something from the RTD era.
[adrotate group="5"]"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"June 30, 2017 at 1:35 pm #339884shaunakParticipantI got the feeling it was something Moffat came up with. Were there any finales from the RTD era written or cowritten by Moffet? I may have misinterpreted that part as well.
I wondered if it was maybe something from Dark Water/ Death in Heaven.
July 1, 2017 at 11:23 pm #339915GaultheriaParticipantWell. That finale was slow and weird. As much as we criticize OUAT’s later seasons for being all about “Plot! Plot! Plot!”, it’s just as bad for a show to be all about character like this one was.

10×12 “The Doctor Falls”
Guys I don’t know how to process this one.
I mean I think there’s a lot of good like:
Missy/Master chemistry (apart from the really unnecessary sex joke); the Doctor’s speech to M and M about being kind which was a nice way to dovetail back to 12’s original question 3 seasons ago about if he was a good man or not; ALL the 4th Doctor references ( Tom Baker for the win, y’all); and the ending with 1st Doctor stand in was shocking; I also liked Bill and the Doctor’s conversations because this season has been all about them and their relationship.
On the other hand, handwavey plot and plot devices are handwavey! And I thought given how much we set up the Cybermen as credible threats last week , we did so little with them in the end. I mean they just blew them up? That’s it? And what about the people on the ship who now have to keep moving up and up and up. And Nardole?
Also, what on earth with Bill and the Pilot girl??? I didn’t get that at all and it falls head first into one of Moffat’s more dangerous traps of true love saving the day. So…is Bill dead? I guess so but now she’s just experiencing a new type of living? Also, really shocked she just left the Doctor in the TARDIS and peaced out.
Tossing in “I don’t want to go” was emotional manipulation.
It wasn’t the best season finale ever and I’m torn as to why the reviewer from Cultbox that I posted a few days ago claimed it was.
I dunno. What do you guys think?

It’s a setup to do A Christmas Carol again, this time with the Doctor as Scrooge and the ghosts.

There was so much good, and sentimentalism in this episode. I was enthralled watching the Doctor, Bill, the Master, and the Mistress.
As for Heather saving Bill, I believe this story line was set up from the beginning. So to me it was a fitting and acceptable closure to Bill. Bill the student now gets to live a life where all those lessons the Doctor has taught her gets to be applied. I don’t think of Bill and Heather’s as true love but it does give that Love is a Promise vibe. Heather made a promise to Bill and she intend to keep it.
Honestly, I did not want Bill to remain a Cyberman. I really wanted more of Bill so I am disappointed to lose her. As well as Missy as well as the Doctor.
BUT OH MY GAWD CAPALDI THAT MAN IS AMAZING. That man can recite Hickory Dickory Dock and make me feel something deep and profound.
I love him as the DOCTOR absolutely love him.
I am basically Bill in this.
"I will be kind but I will speak my mind."
July 2, 2017 at 11:12 pm #339925Sci-Fi GirlParticipantIf you want an extra dose of Capaldi, have you seen the Paddington movie from 2014? I saw it last year, not when it first came out, and we were delighted to find Peter Capaldi playing a side character! He was hilarious! 😆 His bizarre failed attempts to woo Nicole Kidman were too funny!
This is his idea of a tempting date invitation:
Him: And after, I wondered if you’d like to celebrate by dining with me.
I have some meat-paste sandwiches and pickles.
Her: Sounds glorious.
Him: They went off on Tuesday but you’re normally alright for a week.
*facepalm* 😆
Oh, and Nardole is in it too, though I don’t remember if they run into each other. 🙂

July 4, 2017 at 4:14 pm #339940shaunakParticipantI’m late to the party, but I’m here now!
I liked it as a whole, but I agree with some of what RG said. Also, once the kids hit the top floor, they all die? Or what?
PLEASE someone explain how Heather found Bill through the tear. Also, how long has 12 been fighting regeneration? His hand was glowing early in the episode, before the Cyberman blasted him.
Tossing in “I don’t want to go” was emotional manipulation.
This came in the middle of him quoting lines from past regenerations, so I didn’t have a problem with that so much. I do wish in the companion montage they would have used classic companions as well.
I love him as the DOCTOR
Me too.

Especially given how many callbacks, subtle and not, they did to past Doctors.
