The Oracle on the show could be a rendition of the Greek myth of The Three Fates. The Moirai (word means: part or portion of the lot)

They are three sisters who spins and measures out the destinies of man. They know everyones past and futures. This makes me think, that maybe The Oracle we saw on Once who was killed, was perhaps just one of the three sisters. The one we saw in the flashback could be another.

The Three Fates are described like this–

The 1 sister is Clotho, the spinner of the life thread often depicted with a spindle.

The 2 is Lachesis, the measurer of the thread often depicted with a staff.

The 3 is Atropos, her name means the inevitable. She was the cutter of the thread and was often depicted with a pair of scissors or shears.

What is most interesting here is the fact that one of the sisters- Atropos’ tool is the shears that cut the thread of life. Again linking it to Once were the shears cut the threads of Emmas “Savior being” and as foreseen kill the Savior in the process- or this is not a fact yet but what I suspect. So now Im thinking perhaps Jafar stole the shears from the Oracle (possibly sister Atropos) She came after him and he killed her (but I don’t think she is dead though).. We have also possibly seen sister Lachesis with her staff. On Once, we see that The Oracle only have her staff with the bird on with her sometimes, maybe because it is not always the same Oracle.

The Three Fates from the animation movie Hercules. The shears look the same on Once.

And perhaps later on, in the show the Three sisters of Fate will come into play somehow. And Im hoping for something like this-

In Plato’s dialogue/book “The Republic” the three fates are mentioned in the chapter the Myth of Er.. “Lachesis sings the things that were, Clotho the things that are, and Atropos the things that are to be”… That makes me think maybe we will get the story of “a Christmas carol” on Once for Christmas this year. It might be with Rumple as Mr. Scrooge, but I wish it would be Regina or at least Emma 🙂
