In this episode, toward the end, we saw Rumple/Jefferson/Whale gather in the woods somewhere, discussing the success of their plan; that Whale would “fail” to revive Daniel, pushing her emotions toward a state that is more to Rumple’s liking. In return, Whale received one enchanted heart for his “science”. I think Regina eventually figures this out. She’s outraged naturally, thus starting the feud between her and rumple (and her hatred for Jefferson as well.)
Thoughts?

The only question is, does she find out before or after she strands him in Wonderland? From what we say in Hat Trick, she didn’t seem like she had a whole lot of animosity towards him, but was more manipulative than anything. Then we find out that she made his curse different than everyone else’s by causing him to remember. So, either something happened between the events in Hat Trick and the casting of the curse, or Regina is a really good actress to hide her hatred for Jefferson and not even tell him about it as she strands him in another world.
Yeah, I’m going with something happens after she strands him.

Yeah I imagine she’s gonna be really upset when she realizes it. Either that or sad. Or angry. It depends on how much she’s progressed between now and then.
October 29, 2012 at 10:30 am #158382PheeParticipantThis incident would certainly have given her cause to abandon Jefferson in another land, separating him from the one he loves. It’d also explain why she cursed him to remember the love he’d lost.
I’d think she’d hate Rumple more if she knew the whole story though. Granted, they’re not BFFs, but she’s still happy to work with him, which I doubt she would be if she knew the whole truth. Unless she did know, but kept that fact hidden, so she could play him, (or so she thought), pretend to still be good natured frenemies, just enough to get him to give her the curse, and in casting it, she not only got revenge on Snow, but also on Rumple.

I think she found out about it before she left him stranded. Something happened to make Jefferson lose his fortune. Regina could be behind it. I think she stranded him in Wonderland as revenge for his role in the plot.
Of course, I have nothing concrete to back this. Just a feeling. Will be nice to find out who’s right. 🙂
October 29, 2012 at 12:17 pm #158397cherishParticipantAs much as I love how the writers are trying to redeem Regina’s character, I’m not liking how they’re excusing everything she’s ever done. Many of her past offenses are already being pushed aside. Her hating Snow, her leaving Jefferson in Wonderland, ect. Next we’re going to learn that the reason why she killed Graham is because he accidently killed one of her wolves or something. 😆
Just have her be responsible for her own actions and grow from them. Don’t excuse them and try to rationalize them. Evil isn’t rational, so trying to make sense of Regina’s most evil deeds is kind of useless. I don’t expect the writers to justify or excuse Rumpel killing his wife or killing his maid. So, why do it with Regina?

The reason Jefferson lost his fortune was because he lost his wife due to his profession as a realm-jumper. Then to make sure his daughter, Grace, didn’t also lose her father, he literally hung up his hat. Since he no longer could travel to other worlds to acquire items for wealthy patrons like Rumpelstiltskin, he only could support Grace by picking wild mushrooms in the Enchanted Forest. He only agreed to do “one last mission” for Regina in 1×17 because he was financially desperate and wanted to provide a better life for Grace, except then his worst nightmare came true as he ended up stranded in Wonderland.

October 29, 2012 at 12:56 pm #158414RumplesGirlKeymasterI get the feeling there is a lot more of Jefferson’s backstory we haven’t learned yet, and some of that backstory will shed some light on Regina and Jefferson’s relationship. Obviously, at some point they had a falling out. Could she have been the reason Jefferson’s wife die?
Here are my questions as of last night: 1) How did Jefferson come by his hat? 2) Where did Rumple find Jefferson? 3) If Jefferson’s hat can only travel to magical realms, how did he get to Wonderland? 4) Does this mean that there is another room of doors that lead only to non-magical worlds? Or is that the only room in existence and Jefferson can only go through the doors where magic is present (and what does this mean for Wonderland??)"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"October 29, 2012 at 1:03 pm #158419sarah-daye handParticipant@RumplesGirl wrote:

They can only go to a world with magic, Jefferson said that specifically. Then Rumple said “I need to go to a place without magic” and Jefferson said “why would you want THAT?”
Wonderland is a magical realm…
