If Alice went through a rabbit hole in our world and came out into Wonderland….then the rabbit hole should still be in Wonderland. The way Alice gets back to our land is pretty unclear, especially in the movie where it’s almost like she was dreaming. Maybe in the end there is no way to back our land from Wonderland. One time only trip. So, Alice and Jefferson fall in love, but she can’t get back home and even as a portal jumper Jefferson can’t help her. They keep trying to get her home but at some point it has dire consequences and she dies because of their efforts and he swears to give up portal jumping and raise their daughter instead.
Random theory that I just spun out while typing this comment. 🙂
Another option with that is that yes, he found her in Wonderland via portals, but took her with him, leaving behind whoever else he had brought. (Perhaps another portal jumper, like the White Rabbit?) and they get married and she gets pregnant. They keep going through portals to make more money, and then she goes into labour prematurely while they’re in another world. He’s forced to leave her behind to take Grace… And when he returns for her he discovers that she’s dead.

Alice fell down a rabbit hole and ended up in…a room full of doors. Sound familiar? Maybe there’s actually no literal rabbit hole and the “rabbit hole” in the story was actually a top hat that she followed someone into.
Thats how she met Jefferson! Ohhhh I hope his wife is Alice lol I really like this theory!!!
I’ve always sorta hoped that the Alice story will come after what we’ve already seen, (ie, after he’s become the Mad Hatter, and then stuff happens like in the book, with Alice as a little girl), so haven’t been on TeamAliceWasHisWife whenever I’ve seen it suggested. But yeah, if it was Jefferson who was Alice’s “white rabbit”, and he’s the one she followed down the “rabbit hole” that was his hat then that theory could certainly fit.
October 29, 2012 at 3:37 pm #158492RumplesGirlKeymasterI really like everyone’s comments about Jefferson being Alice’s White Rabbit. The more we talk about this, the more I like this theory.

Maybe Regina made Jefferson remember his daughter because she did find out about rumples plan and his role. He gave her a false sense of hope so she gave him false hope in return
October 29, 2012 at 6:13 pm #158522RumplesGirlKeymasterI really need Rumple to NOT be in cahoots with Cora. At least, not in that way, bfilipe. I think she’s the Millers daughter from the original Rumple fairy tale, but I think they are at odds with one another. I think he wanted to take Regina as a baby but Cora guessed his name and then struck a deal with him for power, though I don’t know in exchange for what…
Rumple obviously didn’t get whatever he was looking for (probably some sort of transporting device) from Wonderland (small, annoying world) and now with Cora out of the picture, controlling Regina, Rumple is free to train her to be the one who enacts the curse."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"October 29, 2012 at 6:44 pm #158523midnight drearyParticipantRumpel already visited Wonderland before Regina banished Cora there. So, he doesn’t need her to be queen in order to get there. He’s already been there.
October 29, 2012 at 7:00 pm #158524RumplesGirlKeymasterI get the feeling that should Cora ever make it to SB with Hook, it’s going to be Hook/Cora vs Rumple/Regina/all of SB. And that will take up most of season two after the Xmas break, and then season two can end with the new curse being lifted and the forces of Rumple/Belle/Emma going to find Bae.
BOOM. Prediction.

This incident would certainly have given her cause to abandon Jefferson in another land, separating him from the one he loves. It’d also explain why she cursed him to remember the love he’d lost.
I’d think she’d hate Rumple more if she knew the whole story though. Granted, they’re not BFFs, but she’s still happy to work with him, which I doubt she would be if she knew the whole truth. Unless she did know, but kept that fact hidden, so she could play him, (or so she thought), pretend to still be good natured frenemies, just enough to get him to give her the curse, and in casting it, she not only got revenge on Snow, but also on Rumple.
I think she does hate Rumple more than everyone else. Remember she kidnapped Belle and locked her up and told Rumple that she’d died? Plus, she may have thought that she was getting her way by convincing Rumple to help her cast the curse, but from what I gather so far, getting Regina to cast the curse to take them all to Storybrooke was Rumple’s goal all along. He seems to have manipulated Cora, Regina, even Whale (Rumple could’ve produced the heart in a heartbeat — pun intended — but chose to have them do all the theatrics on Regina to get her where he wanted her emotionally). And all of this was to get someone powerful enough to cast the curse to bring him to this world without magic. To find his son. So yeah, I’d bet Regina is pissed off at him if she has figured all of this out.
October 30, 2012 at 2:47 am #158588malchoreParticipantWhat if Grace turns out to be Alice? Grace found the hat, “played” with it and ended up activating it, flushing her down into the portal. Jefferson goes in after her, finds her and rescues her, and swears never to use the hat again.
October 30, 2012 at 3:24 am #158591arwenreneeParticipantI thought when I watched Hat Trick that Jeffersons wife was Alice and Grace is their daughter. I also think that Jefferson and Ragina are brother/sister even twins Rumple got Jefferson after Cora guessed his name because she made a deal for him to teach her magic for one of the babies. Don’t think at the time of “The Dr.” They new this but between then and “Hat Trick” they find out Ragina wants Jefferson to take his place beside her taking revenge on Snow, Rumple and who know who else. But Jefferson has already meet Alice and chooses to stay with her and Grace, so Ragina kills Alice, because Jefferson is abandoning her hence the comment you don’t abandon family. I can’t wait to see more of Jeffersons back story we need to find out what Rumple did with baby Jefferson.
