There was one more I forgot….

Belle and Rumpelstiltskin just letting Captain Hook go. I’m happy that he was spared and all, but they could have easily tied him up amd called Emma to come and arrest him.

The writers didn’t want to screw with the Captain Swan ship…

I know they did suffer. But they needn’t have to if they had turned Captain Hook over. Captain Hook had attacked them numerous times and kept Archie locked up. That is a crime–Belle had even asked Rumpelstiltskin at one point to report the crime. 🙂

    Who you mean to selfish?

THEY did suffer due to that oversight… see what happens when you are selfish?

Gold was selfish for not reporting the crime… being so wrapped up in trying to see if he could get out of town and look for Bae…. Like really where are GOLD’S priorities ??? It would have taken just a few minutes to get Hook captured and thrown into jail.

Then the last few minutes with Belle rolling over the town line and the car crash would never have happened.

Another oversight I saw is this: If Rumple wants Hook gone so bad, then why wouldn’t he have turned him into a rat, or something else like he did Smee? I mean I know it’d be endgame and things have to follow onward, but it just struck me how easily he could handle his “Hook” problem, if he really wanted to. Instead, he acts like he’s helpless, and trapped in a corner!

I think the potential for Captain Swan sailed. Captain Hook cannot let go of Milah–the way he talked about her just shows how much he loved, as well as the fact that he seemed slightly suicidal, giving how he kept taunting and almost begging Rumpelstiltskin to kill him.

    @NONNIE

I agree he was selfish. It would not have taken much effort for him to call Emma afterwards and have Captain Hook arrested and charged.

So about my question, would he selfishness be why he didn’t simply turn Hook into a rat, a snake, or something else, instead of tolerating the back-and-forth between them?

I guess he wanted to make Captain Hook suffer. 🙂 With Smee, the guy was just a rat (that was intended) and not really worth much of the effort. But with Captain Hook, there is a lot of hatred that he has for him–the guy ‘stole’ his wife and left Baelfire without a mother, and then tried to kill Belle. I can only guess he just wanted to beat Captain Hook up and kill him slowly and painfully.

Guys, it’s called a plot hole. The writers needed to find a way for Hook to shoot Belle, so that’s the way they did it. Stop overthinking it. 😆

WHOA. This episode was amazing! 😮

    Favorite Moments:
-All of Belle’s flashback scenes with Mulan and Prince Philip. Belle wasn’t the badass warrior woman that some were worried that she’d be. She was smart and resourceful and used her intellect to guide her through the task at hand.
-Rumpel and Hook’s big showdown. God that was awesome. Hook’s scenes with Rumpel and Belle were so intense!
    -Belle saving Archie.
    -Belle saving Prince Philip
-Belle having a snark-off with the men on the road trip.
-Belle using the fairy dust to find Hook’s ship.
-Ok, pretty much everything with Belle. 😆
-Mr. Gold kicking Smee over the town border. No shame.
-Mr. Gold turning Smee into a rat. Still don’t feel sorry for ya, Smee.

    Least Favorite Moments:
-THE ENDING. Not that it was a bad ending, it was just unbelievably heartbreaking. But other than that, there weren’t many downsides to this episode. It was phenomenal.
