O.M.G. This episode was STELLAR!!!
Belle’s backstory was amazing and Emilie de Ravin’s performance was great. I love how the writers finally put her bravery on display and showed us why Belle is so well-loved. She saved Prince Philip from his curse. She went against Mr. Gold’s orders and used her smarts to find Hook’s ship. She rescued Archie while simultaneously fighting off Hook. In fact, she fought off Hook twice in this episode. Belle was incredible in this episode. I can’t wait to see more of her.
Mr. Gold and Hook’s showdown was also pretty epic. Seeing Mr. Gold beat another poor unfortunate soul is always a treat to watch. 😆 And as always, Robert Carlyle was amazing. Colin was great too.
But dude…*Drops to knees* WHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!! OK, I can take Belle getting shot. I can take Belle having her memory erased. But BOTH? Way too much! Having said that, I think the writers are going to find a way to restore Belle’s memory. I think the rest of Rumpel’s season 2 story arc will consist of him searching for Baelfire while simultaneously coming up with a cure to help restore Belle’s memory.
Oh yeah… ARCHIE’S ALIVE!!! SQUEEEEEEE!!!
I have ZERO clue who the Ethan Embry’s character is going to be. ZERO. 😯
Stellar episode! 10/10 stars.

Oh, this story is just to negative, y’all! It needs something positive in it! Too dark! Too hopeless! Something’s got to give!
About the showdown with Hook: I don’t think we’ve seen the big one yet. If that was it, it fell short, and big time. It just had no depth, at all if that is the case. It was just tragic for everybody. The people who were watching, included.

This is from TVLINE.com’s interview with Josh Dallas (Charming):
TVLINE | Might there be some thumping of chests with Charming and Hook?
There might be…. I mean, Charming doesn’t take kindly to people who are liars and manipulators — he finds that a real weakness in people — and Hook is one nasty character. Of course, they haven’t met yet, properly, but I think there’s going to be some interesting things for sure between the two of them. They haven't met yet, so there's more to come.
WIth both Hook and Rumple in the same town, and with Rumple now having a brand new reason to hate Hook, Last night will probably just be fuel for a burning flame.
January 14, 2013 at 1:32 pm #168254the fairestParticipantOk, now that I’ve managed to get my emotions under control…WOW!!! This episode was AMAZING! 😀 I loved everything about it. Badass Belle, plenty of development for Rumbelle, a lot of tense moments with Hook, and some great flashbacks with Belle and Mulan.
Favorite moments:
-Belle being the one to rescue Archie. Belle is usually the one who’s always getting kidnapped, so it was cool to see her be the hero this time.
-Belle using her intellect to not only defeat the demon, but defeat Hook as well.
-The big reveal with Prince Philip. It was great seeing him again.
-Robert Carlyle and Emilie’s de Ravin’s performances. They were both stellar in this episode. Absolutely amazing.
-Belle fighting off Hook in the library.
-The final scene before everything fell apart. I liked the conversation between Belle and Mr. Gold in his car.
-Emma trying to cheer Henry up with a poptart. So cute. 😆
Least favorite moments:
-The ending. Why? WHYYYYYYYYYY?!?!?!?! Not only was she shot, but she also lost her memory. Belle finally gets some substantial character development and the writers take it away from us. Of course, Rumpel will find a way to cure, but it still sucks.
-I didn’t like how lightly Archie’s big reveal was handled. Emma and Henry didn’t seem all that shocked. It just came off as…odd.

BELLE! Everything about her. Her flashbacks with Mulan and Grumpy, seeing her outsmart her enemies and think circles around them, the way she handled Mr. Gold, the way she handled Hook, her costumes (in both worlds)…Belle was just perfection last night and she really managed to elevate herself to the status of a hero. She saved Prince Philip, she saved Dr. Hopper and she saved Rumpel from making a huge mistake in murdering Hook. Belle was very brave last night and her most positive attributes were on display.Least favorite moment
Do I even have to say it? Poor Belle. This girl has had a tough life. First she’s brought up to be a perfect little princess by her strict father, then she sacrifices herself to the Dark One for the good of her kingdom, then she falls in love with the Dark One, then she’s captured by the Evil Queen and held hostage for 28 years, and now THIS! Ugh! Give this poor girl a break. I hope Rumpel can cure in time for the season finale. Belle has developed into a magnificent character and I’d like to see more of her awesomeness this season.January 14, 2013 at 3:35 pm #168262marilouParticipant@A_Desperate_Soul wrote:
WHOA. This episode was amazing! 😮
Favorite Moments:
-All of Belle’s flashback scenes with Mulan and Prince Philip. Belle wasn’t the badass warrior woman that some were worried that she’d be. She was smart and resourceful and used her intellect to guide her through the task at hand.
-Rumpel and Hook’s big showdown. God that was awesome. Hook’s scenes with Rumpel and Belle were so intense!
-Belle saving Archie.
-Belle saving Prince Philip
-Belle having a snark-off with the men on the road trip.
-Belle using the fairy dust to find Hook’s ship.
-Ok, pretty much everything with Belle. 😆
-Mr. Gold kicking Smee over the town border. No shame.
-Mr. Gold turning Smee into a rat. Still don’t feel sorry for ya, Smee.Least Favorite Moments:
-THE ENDING. Not that it was a bad ending, it was just unbelievably heartbreaking. But other than that, there weren’t many downsides to this episode. It was phenomenal.it wasn’t fairy dust… just some regular sand.

LEAST FAVORITE, LEAST FAVORITE, LEAST FAVORITE:
Belle gets shot and falls across the town line into Rumple’s arms and forgets who she is?!?!?!?!?!
Someone please summon to Cora to rip my heart out . . .

January 14, 2013 at 6:11 pm #168277evilqueenParticipantFavorite moment? LAST SCENE. It has to be. Suddenly EVERYTHING is turned 180 degrees (even the car 😆 ) and now ANYTHING can happen. It brought so many opportunities on what might happen next:
– obviously, Rumple and Belle relationship is going to be an interesting one to watch
– Hook and what his next move might be – now he got to Rumple’s heart, does he consider his vengeance achieved?
– the outsider character, who the heck is he and how is this going to affect Storybrooke?LEAST favourite?
Archie reappearing in Storybrooke. Not only the reaction to the fact he’s alive and that it wasn’t Regina, is very flat and short, but also, in the complete contrary to the last scene of the episode, it shut off a lot of possibilities and a story that still had so much potential to be developed.January 14, 2013 at 6:48 pm #168284Daniel J. No, I feel you. Even though I was upset by the outcome, it was still an amazingly intense scene. It managed to set up 4 separate storylines all in one swoop. Rumpel’s revenge, Hook’s fate, Belle’s memory loss and the entrance of the outsider. It was a great ending.
My favorite moment has to be Belle rescuing Dr. Hopper. I loved how clever her plan was. She used her books and a little bit of common sense to help her along her mission, and it worked perfectly. I loved it.
Least favorite moment? You know, as happy as I was to Dr. Hopper alive and well, it would appear that the rest of Storybrooke’s residents didn’t feel the same way. Emma’s reaction wasn’t…I don’t know….surprised enough. You’d think that after seeing someone’s dead body one week, and then having them knock at your door the next week would really freak someone out! 😆
Overall, this episode really delivered. Everyone was fantastic and it had a pretty epic cliffhanger at the end. But most importantly, it fleshed out Belle’s character and revealed just how brave and intellegent she could be.
