Another problem after S3, like many said already here, the scenes are not natural, feel forced, is possible to see that the cast doesn`t believe in what they are saying or doing anymore, like there is no need bc in the next episode they will retcon the previous one.
Agreed. I think this is most clearly displayed by RC. When you look at interviews of him from the first couple of series he actually answers questions about Rumple’s motivations. When he is asked the same question in later season interviews, he just shrugs and say “don’t know”. Wasn’t it rumoured he was just doing this season and that was it?
Also, the timeline is the more horrible thing i ever saw, being the biggest examples , Henry age that every season they contradict, however they keep the year of SF meeting as 2001, which makes no sense Henry having 10 in the pilot, 11 in spring on 2012, then they hint his birthday is in August and after one year in 2013 has 13 years even tho only 2 years have pass since the pilot then that also means that he should have 12 and not 13, well he should have 11 if we count 9 months pregnancy, but moving on, this timeline also means that if we take 1 year on EF/NY, all these characters only know each other one year.
Henry is too young for a relationship. There is an easy logical way they could’ve physically aged Henry up without having to do time skips- use the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus. Their grand plan was to steal the lives of children which caused the kids to age whilst the Sanderson sisters became youthful, have Henry be their victim but is saved before the spell can be completed. Hey presto, you have an aged up Henry.

Besides RC, im starting to see that, as well in Ginny, Josh, Emilie and believe it or not in JMO( she always looks much happier when she is not filming the show) and Colin( based on his own words that he prefers S2 HOok, and doesnt like this version of Hook at all, the romantic hero), in Jared, i dont mention, because my opinion of him, is that there are better Child/teen actors out there , Lana, i would say thinks that the show is getting out of hands, but she still maybe believes they will find a way out of it, Bex, well she is happy bc she has work, so im sure she is enjoying, although this year Zelena has pretty much no storyline at all, her storyline is simply be divided btw EQ and Regina and gloating to Rumple that she killed Bae.

I think Henrys the right age for the typical first love awkwardness stuff. I just think the writers arent using Henry to his full potential.
Would it really kill them to get this kid a plot? You’d think with him being the author he would have something to do. Sheesh. Hes like 13? 14? I always forget. I want to see henry get pulled into dark magic… I want to see henry do some knight stuff. Hopefully we see that next half.
But yeah i think a lot of the cast are just here for the paycheck at this point.

Nothing plot wise nor character wise matters because the writers can change on a dime whenever they see fit, either for a better idea or because they simply don’t care to keep things consistent. This fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants world building doesn’t work because not only does magic not make sense (or just any random plot device) but it also means big concepts like what good or evil actually *is* are so ill defined that it’s hard (if not impossible) to tell a story.
Very much agree with this and I would also say that bc everything in the past that is important has already basically been told, the flashbacks (which used to be a big strength of this show) are now often times lackluster. World building timeline issues and forced lackluster flashbacks have brought the show down, for me at least.
December 21, 2016 at 5:53 am #332262sciencevsmagicParticipantIn addition to the problems already mentioned, the biggest problem for me is that the characters are no longer relatable or engaging. I simply do not care about them anymore. If any of the mains died, I wouldn’t be able to muster any emotion. The problem is twofold. First, they don’t behave like real people would, which makes it hard to relate to anyone. Poor writing, PLOT etc – we’ve discussed all of this at length at some time or another. The second problem is the lack of diversity in the group. I’m not just talking in terms of race, sexuality, age etc. They even think alike – witness all of them heading off to the Underworld with Emma, leaving babies and young children behind because “that’s what heroes do”.
I haven’t watched any episodes since ‘Heartless’ and I’m struggling to stick with OUAT. I doubt I’ll still be watching by the end of S6.

At this point I’m seeing OUAT through to the end but I’m hoping that end comes really soon so the characters can be put to rest with whatever shred of dignity they have left. Only Hook at this point has escaped any form of character assassination, some (Rumple, Belle) have suffered worse than others but none of the mains are really recognisable as the characters we met in season 1.

I would agree with this assessment. There’s a lack of overall coherency now in the story, both in terms of jumbled plot lines and a lack of clear character motivation. There’s no longer a clear driving force besides a vague notion of characters figuring out what it means to live happily ever after. I think there needs to be a natural conclusion, and it needs to be soon and not drag on any longer.

Exactly…invested nearly six years in this show, might as well ride it out! From our ratings, I don’t think we’ve got long before it all ends, hopefully on a good note and not some terrible, open ended cliff hanger.

December 21, 2016 at 10:40 pm #332285TheWatcherParticipantHey I stayed with True Blood for 7 seasons, knowing full well only like 3 of those seasons were good…. If I can do that, I can stick with OUAT to the end.
Or at least until we get Tiana >:)
I’m just here for the live action Disney characters and magic now, really. Spent far too much time on this show to go on not knowing how it ends
