ParticipantYou are right Rumple’s Girl. None of those things required a wand. The wand Emma used is special because its special purpose was defined by Rumple. It is used to recreate any magic that has ever been wielded…any magic whether or not that magic needed a wand is immaterial. This wand is used to recreate that magic.

And was left behind in his vault and never seen again.

ParticipantI understand what you are getting at NealFan. Zelena Did magic that broke the laws of magic and the eand was able to redo it (even in the past at that!!) even while the laws were put back into place. Even though the laws of magic are in place again, resurrections, time travel, and love spells were all done previously and so therefore the wand CAN recreate them (however technically the only person who can use resurrection or love spells would be jafar). So yeah. The wand CAN defy the laws of magic to those who have done it already. So if jafar cones back he is all powerful again if hr gets his hands on that wand (remember the only person who could do the time travel was Emma or Hook because they actually used the time portal so i assume its that way for other spells too) but again, I doubt they will use It to resurrect Neal of all people.
I likes the way you think, NealFan 😛

ParticipantThe wand that brought Emma back….if staying true to semantics and the writers are huge when it comes to semantics, the wand should be able to recreate any magic that has ever been wielded. Has magic been wielded that brought someone back from the dead? Yes. Has magic been wielded that made someone love someone else? Yes. Has magic been wielded that allowed someone to change the past? Yes. The wand should be able to recreate that magic whether or not the laws of magic were restored.
Also you seem to be suggesting that this wand can do X when wands have never been proved to do X. You say “it should” be able to do these things yet we’ve never seen a wands do those things.
When someone was brought back from the dead it was because the laws, in WL, were broken.
Same with making someone love someone and changing the past. None of this required a wand.
The wand has been proven to do X. Emma did not need Regina’s heart, Rumple’s brain, Charming’s courage and Baby Charming to open a time portal. All she needed was the wand which recreated the magic of Zelena’s Time Travel. Time travel is one of the three laws of magic that cannot be broken, yet, the wand was able to recreate the magic of time travel due to the one condition of the wand…that time travel magic had already been used.

KeymasterIf you want I will sit here and make a list of convenient plot devices on this show that have never been again after they were used.

EMMA did that. Not the wand. The wand was a just a wand in the end. EMMA had to use her OWN magic to make it work. And she’s already declared that she’s not going to save Neal because you can’t take away his heroic death from him.

And to add to this, there has to be a reason they kept Jafar alive. When he comes back this may be his plot.

ParticipantThanks Watcher. We will have to see how they define the wand. Technically it does not say that the wand has to be used by the same person who used it before. The definition simply says if the magic has been wielded. That is kind of like sword language. The same sword can be wielded by many different people. Jafar wielded the love me magic…the wand says that if the love me magic has been wielded then the wand can recreate that magic. It does not say that the same person has to be the wielder. But you are correct…they kept Jafar alive for a reason. That wand could be a huge temptation to a lot of hurting people. Fix it..fix it..fix it..fix it..
If Neal is resurrected I don’t think Neal will be the thing that comes up from the grave. I think Baelfire will come back and I don’t think it will be the same actor. I think he will be something dark. My brain keeps going to a strange scenario..and Neal or even Henry becomes the first dark one. I could see them doing this because of the conversation that Emma and Rumple had before she went through the portal. Then we have a real twisted ball of string to unravel. In the end they will resolve it in a way that is true to the heart of the Baelfire we know and love. I trust the writers and their desire to tell a tale of redemption.
I’m headed off to our cabin so I will leave it for you guys to discuss. I’m not sure about where they are going…but I am pretty sure that wand is going to be used by someone.

ModeratorAs far as many of us are concerned, the point is Neal won’t be coming back because Michael Raymond James is no longer with the show. He’s already working on new projects, and Adam and Eddy have made it clear in several interviews that his death will remain permanent. If they had planned for him to stick around, they wouldn’t have killed him off so shortly after his initial fake-out death. Especially when he literally had maybe 20 minutes of total screentime for the 2nd half of Season 3 and died within 4 episodes. As said before, any chance they had of a revival being a being a possibility was rejected within the show itself. Time travel with the possibility of preventing his death? If they had any intention of reversing his death, they would have done it then, but nope! Plus, they went as far as to name the new baby after him. As has been stated before, there’s a difference between “could” and “will”, and the writers have made it pretty clear they don’t have that will in this case. Prior to the Season ending, I saw several theories about how Neal’s death could have been reversed, including a few on this very forum, and none of those theories came to fruition.
On a side note, despite being within the same universe, the laws introduced on Wonderland don’t seem to add up to the laws on Once proper. Technically speaking, “changing the past” is a specific law of magic that can’t be done, and yet Once proper worked around it anyway by having Zelena create her time travel curse simply because “she was powerful enough.” Either the two sets of writers didn’t keep the laws of the universe in check with each other, or Adam and Eddy chose to ignore Wonderland lore because the show was doomed to cancellation anyway.

And why would you want that? If they brought Nealfire back only to be some super evil guy, I’m done. I’m out. Peace. Nice knowing you, ONCE. But that’s it.
I trust the writers and their desire to tell a tale of redemption.
Here’s the thing. They think they already did that. They think that they told that tale. It wasn’t told well. That’s on them.
