I also think that in Wonderland specifically ANYTHING might be possible. I mean the Mad Hatter lost his head and lived. So the normal “rules” might not apply to magic in WL.

Knave did say in the pilot, “you know as well I do. Nothing is impossible in Wonderland.” I do think we can say that magic works differently in different lands

I like the idea that Jafar wants to be able to change magic so he can bring someone back from the dead. The stakes must be high for him, considering the lengths he’s going to, and wanting to be able to bring back a dead loved one, there are pretty much no higher stakes than that.

Maybe he wants to change the past, not just bring someone back, but change the whole path of how he became evil in the first place.  Ever seen Loopers? What if a villain said, I really don’t want to BE a villain anymore, even a reformed one, I want to actually change everything.  You might feel no amount of evil you do will matter, because if you succeed, then none of it ever happened.

Match these rules up with what we’ve heard in OUAT and even Disney’s Aladdin. Wonderland added a new rule, “can’t change the past.”

Because that rule was added in this series, it’s what I think Jafar wants to break.

I agree Daniel. Though I think it is Red Queen that wants to change the past.

Good point. Then what about the past does he want to change? I do like KFC’s theory; maybe there is something in his past that fundamentally changed who he is and who he became. (like maybe the death of a loved one in a horrible way)

I feel the RQ has smaller ambition so she wants to bring back someone from the dead.  In keeping with the Chess theme, you can bring back any piece if a pawn  reaches the other side –it is not just promoting to a  Queen.  Jafar wants to restart the game.

Ooooh. Oooooh. I like it! If she is Anastasia, does she think the Knave is dead? He hasn’t been in WL for 28 (Cursed) years.
