Tonight we saw that what we thought was Conscience Belle was really the Shadow in Belle Clothing.
Rumple confirmed that the Shadow belongs to Pan (or so he thinks!)
Do the Shadow belong to Pan? Has the Shadow taken on other forms? Is the Shadow really in control of Neverland?

Ariel’s Belle was just parroting what PP said so she was obviously the shadow. How creepy was it of PP describing Belle as “fertile”. I wonder if the writers planted the idea of a RumBelle baby for a reason.

I think the shadow is Felix’s. It looks more like him me? Also the eyes are a different color. Pans shadows are like white or yellow glowing eyes while this shadow has purple glowing eyes. I think something is up. Whoever this shadow is was trying to help maybe… But its not Pans shadow.

I don’t know….hm. I don’t think the Shadow is Pan or Felix or anyone. I’m starting to think that the Shadow is it’s own entity that works with Pan but is not Pan.

Ever since we first met the Shadow in 2×21, I have had a theory that Peter Pan is cursed and under the control of the Shadow. While the Shadow may belong to PP, it has grown more powerful than PP to the point where it is now the true master. Perhaps the Shadow represents Pan’s own “shadow of a doubt.” For example, the more disbelief takes hold of Pan, the more powerful that Shadow becomes. Also, the fact that it is perpetually dark in NL makes me think that a shadow has quite literally fallen over the island. If you recall from 2×21, the only thing that truly frightens the Shadow is light, just as the Wraith was afraid of light in 2×1. For example, when Baelfire used a match against the Shadow, it recoiled from the flame and dropped Baelfire into the ocean surrounding NL. Also, the name BaelFIRE (which is simply the Irish word for bonfire) reaffirms that Neal knows how to fight the Shadow with fire. Now that the Shadow has grown more powerful, it is perpetually night in NL so that the Shadow can always roam the island being in complete control. What would defeat the Shadow? The return of daylight! In the promo for 3×7, we see Emma and her group holding up torches of light in an attempt to ward off an army of dark shadows (who are probably ripped from people like Greg).

It could be both shadow and subconscious, if it was Rumpel’s own shadow.

November 4, 2013 at 2:59 pm #221075PriceofMagicParticipant302 Belle seemed to be trying to help Rumple overcome his issues, 306 Belle just seemed to be parroting what PP had tempted Rumple with. There seems to be a definite difference between the two versions of Belle.

I agree. In my head 302 was a sub-conscience Belle. 304 Belle was a refection of how torn Rumple is on the inside but still his sub-conscience. 306 Belle was the Shadow.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"November 5, 2013 at 6:32 am #221198ClessidorParticipantThe best thing was when ShadowBelle said “Take my hand.” Now I’m pretty sure that the way how the shadow bring children to Neverland might be a reference to the Metallica song “Enter Sandman” (“Take my hand. Off to Never Never-land).
It would even have sense if Neverland, the Shadow and Pan have a connection to the sandman. Pan and his forces are in tune with every grain of sand on the island. What if everything in Neverland is just made out of sand? The sand of the Sandman which can just be formed by believe?
Also another interesting fact is that some scientists hypothesize that the origin of the Sandman might be Morpheus, the Greek god of dreams. But since the medieval period he began to stand generally for the god of dreams or of sleep. That’s why people guess that Sandman might have his origins in the Greek god.
Why I’m thinking about Morpheus. Well he has the ability to take any human form. The same ability the Shadow have.“There were thousands and thousands of forms of joy in the world, but that all were essentially one and the same, namely, the joy of being able to love.”
