I’ve noticed that the sleeping curse is becoming a recurring theme in Once.
It’s gone from a mere curse, to another world, to the way that Snow and Charming can communicate.
So I have questions:
We saw Charming break through the terrifying mirror room to the fire room below. Does this mean that the sleeping curse has different levels, like sleep, scientifically, has different levels?
Why can’t you die in a sleeping curse, if it is only another world? Yes, your soul travels there, not your physical body. But you can get burned, right?
Which brings me to my next question, how could Henry and Aurora get burned if they’re “not really there??”
WHY would Regina even need the sleeping curse from Maleficient if she could just make one herself??I love the writers incorporating the dreams, but it does raise a lot of questions.
What do you guys think?[adrotate group="5"]November 26, 2012 at 3:32 am #162303evilqueenParticipant@Clockwatcher wrote:

That’s probably the only question I think I can answer – what Regina has probably got of Maleficient, was the RECIPE for the curse – she has learned it since then and now she can make it just like you bake apple turnovers off the top of your head ;P

*gasp* I got it! It’s Once Upon A Time’s version of Inception. 😀

Rumple said that the fire room was only where someone went after they’d been awoken from the curse, and Charming would have to figure out how to get there. The room of mirrors is where you go when you’re actually under the sleeping curse. The room of fire is just an after effect that you get when you go back to sleep after the curse has been broken. I guess it could be likened to the different levels of sleep. We had Snow saying that she had to be sleeping in a particular way in order to get back to that room, she couldn’t just drift off naturally.

You could wander through a room of mirrors for an eternity without any risk of dying.
The fact that the room physically burns people made me think it was a contradiction when Charming and Snow couldn’t touch. If the flames can physically touch you, then why can’t another person? Does not compute. I guess they can get around that by saying that the flames are actually part of the room, so they can have a physical effect, but other people there are their own separate entity, so they can’t touch. Gotta be some logistical loophole so they could create that special moment of Snowing angst. 😉

Think only Regina said, one can’t die in a sleeping curse – but to me it sounded more like an attempt to reassure Henry, not like she was actually sure about it (didn’t seem to know much about it in the first place, besides how to cast it). Possible so far it never happened, but doesn’t mean it can’t. More likely considering the burns it is possible.
To induce the pain that it feels like it burned would be rather easy (stimulating the right nerves the right way). More complicate and in our scientifical understanding impossible to actually inflict real wounds via hurting the soul in another world or reality. Has to do a lot with believing, I am sure. What of course now might raise some other questions.
Snow showed some doubts in that fire room. Have a feeling, that she and Charming couldn't touch, because both or one of them didn't truly believe it was possible. Additionally Snow was starting to wake up.
¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯
