So after seeing “The Stranger” what do you think? If you haven’t seen the episode yet do not read this thread until you do. 🙂
I figured out that August was Pinocchio last episode and this episode confirmed it. So what do you all think of tonight's show? I think they did a good job of portraying August as a Pinocchio. I enjoyed the explanation of how Emma and he where found.
So use this thread to share your views about the episode.

I said it just like it was,the blue fairy lied, Pinocchio made of the same wood as the tree, being the 7 year old that found baby Emma, it was sad to see him leave her without doing what he was meant to. Even sadder Emma still refuse to believe! Lots to look forward to next week!

Iknew we where going to go there. I also felt that Pinocchio was going to do exactly like he did in the original story and follow the crowed rather than do what he needed to do. I love it all. August rules. He is doing what an adult should do and not what a child would do. I love the writers. 😀

Geppetto had a right to want to save his son… wood or real why is his son of less value then Emma. I will not FAULT Geppetto for wanting or demanding to save his son.
As for Emma believing, there has been NO evidence except the book which can be looked on as a book of fiction, folk lore not history. YES, she knows REGINA IS Evil and not good for Henry or anyone else. I want to know what other evidence has been presented? Emma has no way of knowing what has occurred in FTL, we might know but Emma does not.
Nonnie
BTW if the episode has been shown you do not need to use the spoiler code to cover your statements….

So I’m ok with the “He IS freakin’ Pinocchio” title of my thread?

Preach sister! I agree. If I had a son or daughter, I’d do anything and everything in my power to save them. And good parent would do it. That’s what parenthood is about. 🙁
April 30, 2012 at 9:34 am #144757SlurpeezParticipantI think Geppetto acted out of desperation as well. I can understand that as a parent, he’d want to save his child a horrible fate of turning into wood. Although, I think if he’d thought it through more, he might have realized that sending a baby through and entrusting its care to a 7-year-old might not have been a wise decision. If/When Emma finally believes in FTL, she is going to have a grudge against Geppetto for having a lousy childhood and being raised without a mother or father. I seriously teared up when baby Emma was left alone in her crib with no ally or guardian. She has been alone her entire life and it’s no wonder she has trust issues. Simultaneously, I understand that Pinocchio was just a 7-year-old kid who couldn’t face the responsibility. Heck, there are a lot of 27-year-old “kidults” who won’t face that kind of responsibility. I did like the fact that August now wants to set things to rights.

It’s just that he didn’t come back to set things right he came back because his leg started hurting. One could argue that he wouldn’t have come back if he wasn’t dying. Imagine how different Emma’s life would have been if she’ve had her would be big brother? How much less it would have taken to convince Emma of the truth? Well it’s a better story this way.
April 30, 2012 at 11:38 am #144779hjbauParticipantI think Geppetto did the wrong thing. He has risked the fate of the world for something that might not have happened. Pinocchio may have been fine. And i don’t blame Geppetto for wanting to save his son, but i do blame him for chancing everyone elses lives and actually doing it. And August became irresponsible and a liar and while he was just a kid he isn’t anymore. And i agree that it seems like the reason he came back was just to save his own life and not to help Emma or everyone else. I actually think Emma is going to have a really hard time trusting a lot of these people. Emma feels abandoned by her parents and now we learn that Geppetto and Pinocchio lied about the cabinet to save Pinocchio and then left Emma alone.
April 30, 2012 at 4:44 pm #144829angiebelleParticipantIt does bother me a bit that Gepetto made a really foolish decision in an attempt to save his son, but good characters making bad decisions seems to be a repeated theme throughout the show. It’s their way of showing us that no one is all good or all bad. Gepetto really didn’t think….he was trying to save Pinocchio, but he sent him out alone with a baby into a completely unknown world with no parental figure to guide him! Pinocchio actually would have been safer staying with his father…turning back into wood could be undone when the savior broke the curse- it wasn’t a true death sentence. August must have had as terrible a childhood as Emma, only with his memories of Fairytale land intact.
