ParticipantYikes this is getting painful. I’m very sorry to see several of these episodes go, in particular The Shepard and The Apprentice. The Shepard is not only a great backstory for Charming, but also has some of my favorite Rumple scenes in Once and an underrated villain in King George. As for The Apprentice… it is in my opinion the very best episode in season four. It’s certainly my favorite from four anyway.
And now onto round four and my fingers are crossed that my other favorites can hang in there for the final round(s).
I still can’t believe the final three episodes of the last season are still in. At least there are only a few from the last three seasons left and around ten from the other three.
I haven’t voted for any season sixers yet (I admit to being tempted to vote for the musical, but I didn’t or at least haven’t yet), but clearly several people must like the finale and the musical or they wouldn’t still be in. The polling has already surprised me in that I figured it would be a sort of reverse boot order with virtually all of seasons 4-6 going out in the first round or two and most of season one making the final round with a few standouts from two and three joining in. Even the top ten after round three has a couple of surprises in it for me. Can’t wait to see what happens in round four! Hopefully not more sadness.

Participant– What were the biggest surprises for you? What episode/s are you most disappointed to see go?
I’m really surprised to see “The Other Shoe” and “Devil’s Due” are still in. I’m also very surprised to see “Red Handed” go already. It was the episode that sold me for certain on OUAT – they showed how much interesting character growth and revelation they could provide for someone we knew very little about in under an hour. It had a great, unexpected twist, for me at least, and they really showed how they could turn a fairytale on its head. I’m also disappointed to see “The Shepherd” go.
– Why do you think the episodes in the Top 10 and Bottom 22 were the episodes they were?
The Top 10 remained mostly consistent. Based on the episodes that continue to get eliminated, I’d say they’re aren’t many “Belle when she isn’t with Rumple” fans voting.
– Will knowing these results change how you vote in the next round?
I still have 16 of my original Top 20 left, so I only had to pick one to abandon. But that was very, very hard. Lol.
– What predictions do you have for the next round’s results?
I think the S6 finale episodes will remain, the last of S5 and S6A will go, and that we’ll lose 2-3 more S1 episodes.

Keymaster2×19 – Lacey
Nooooooo

I’m less surprised about the musical than I am about the final two episodes. The second half of the Final Battle was decent enough, but the first half was filler. However, I think there episodes in S1-3A that are miles above the Final Battle part 2
The Round 4 Poll is now Live!! IMPORTANT: VOTE ONLY FOR YOUR TOP 15 EPISODES THIS TIME.
Ouch this got rough all of a sudden. Voted, though!

ParticipantWhat were the biggest surprises for you? What episode/s are you most disappointed to see go?
I am not surprised per say but I am disappointed that some of these episodes are gone
The Outsider, Lacey, and The Bear and the Bow because they are all Rumbelle episodes
Her Handsome Hero because it is a Rumbelle episode and it was a pivotal episode in their relationship development even if we took one step forward and then 20 steps back
The Apprentice because I loved Anna and Rumple’s dynamics I thought it was funny and really well done
Darkness at the Edge Town, Nimue, Strange Case, Heartless, and Black Fairy where just pretty good episodes
Why do you think the episodes in the Top 10 and Bottom 20 were the episodes they were?
There were definitely some good episodes in the bottom 20 this time but not good enough to make it to the end. They were episodes that developed characters and were entertaining but not ones that we would say WOW!!!! that was a pivotal episode.
The top 10 eliminated The Miller’s Daughter which I was shocked with and added a Song in Your Heart and why I am not surprised by this because it was the musical I am disappointed as I felt it was a waste of an episode at the end of the basic series where we should have been tying up loose ends instead, I mean lets face it we left a lot of loose ends that could have used the 44 minutes devoted to a musical that really did nothing to move the plot along.
What predictions do you have for the next round’s results?
I think we will have a different top 10 in some respects as we get fewer and fewer episodes.

Keymaster. I’m very sorry to see several of these episodes go, in particular The Shepard and The Apprentice.
ETA: The Shepard is a perfectly fine S1 episode but it’s one of the weaker ones, for me. But still much better than anything that came more recently.
I really disliked the Apprentice, a lot.
. I’m also very surprised to see “Red Handed” go already.
I think it’s in my top 30 but S1 and 2 (and 3A) just have so many strong episodes that Ruby’s episode keeps dropping when I compare it others. HOwever, I do love it to pieces.
What predictions do you have for the next round’s results?
Anything left over from 5A is gone. I think there’s a majority of the fandom that loathed that arc, no matter where you stand with regards to characters and shipping.

ParticipantI think it is just because the final episodes are newer so people have seen them less. I think it is as simple as that and there is nothing wrong with that. That is something that happens. It feels fresher and therefore more exciting as apposed to something that we saw many years ago. It is just a trick of familiarity.
An episode like Red Handed was really well written, with great character, and a great twist. It is a hundred times better then anything in Season 6. It is just older and about a character that has been gone for awhile. I haven’t voted for anything in the late seasons yet either.

ParticipantI don’t even remember what episode the Apprentice is and i agree that the Shepherd was one of the weaker episodes from Season 1, but i have never been a Charming fan.

I think people are voting for the final episode because it is the ending and just like the beginning it is pretty important. Were there problems with it, yes but none the less it is a very important episode.
I think the latter episodes are getting a little bashed because there were some great episodes that everyone raved about when they came out gone (Nimue). I think the season 1 and 2 episodes are more memorable for the opposite reason that you stated. We know them because we have watched them at least for me several times. I have probably seen season 1-3 at least 3 times and season 1 probably 5 times. Skin Deep at least a dozen. Every time I introduced someone to OUAT I would watch it with them so I am completely familiar with all of those episodes. Season 4-6 I had to remind myself what episode that was. The Apprentice was a very good episode with a lot of humor in it. Now am I saying that season 3B-6 even comes close to 1-3A Nope, but there were some really good episodes that are going to get eliminated because we have not seen them and fallen in love with them as much as we have Season 1 episodes (Hat Trick) which was the introduction of Jefferson but honestly was only fairly good not great.

ParticipantNimue was a terrible episode, in my opinion. Though people liked it because it was dark one back story. It seems to generally be regarded as inconsistent and a pretty anti climactic backstory. Though at the time, some people liked it just because it gave us some answers about the dark one and that it seemed like it would lead to some bigger mythology which did not happen because the arc just ending up not making sense and being about Hook being the dark one instead.
I actually, don’t find the end of Season 6 to really be the ending or to really be all that important. Agree to disagree, but those episodes were boring for me. The only thing that was interesting was thinking about which parts of the final episode were actually supposed to originally be part of the story and which were not. Agree to disagree.

I completely agree actually. I loved the Apprentice. But I loved Sympathy for the De Vil just a bit more.

Disagree. I loved Nimue. It gave some of the best Emma moments of the season when she resisted Nimue’s allure and power. And although it was rushed, I enjoyed seeing Merlin and Nimue’s backstory.

You didn’t find the ending of season 6 to be important? Huh? With Gideon’s life on the line, Emma’s life on the line, Black Fairy’s life on the line, all the realms’ existence on the line, EQ’s life on the line…..Like say what you want, there were many flaws, but you can’t just sit there and say there was nothing on the line.
Quick thoughts:
– I was sad to see Strange Case and Heart of the Truest Believer Go. Also Heartless.
– I think every episode I deemed important and good from season 2 is still there. So congrats for everyone getting that right. Season 2 had some serious clunkers but it also had some incredible ones.
– I too am surprised The Other Shoe and Devil’s Due are still there. I enjoyed both of those episodes but I liked others that got voted off way more.
– I was so sad to see Our Decay go last round. RIP Zades
– I will stand by The Song in Your Heart. It was my favorite of the season. I will vote for it every time. Everyone can admit they did such a better job with the musical than anyone thought they would. The music was actually fun and catchy and the actors did such a good job with it. Also, CS wedding.
– I think Going Home might be the biggest threat to a season 1 episode to take the crown here when it gets down to the final few. Just a prediction.
