I’m sorry, but not surprised, to see The Price of Gold and Devils Due go. They’re both in my top twenty overall episodes, but hey most of my top ten are still in with a chance so I’m happy.
i just voted for round five!

This time deciding for only 10 episodes was really hard. I haven’t done any rewatches lately, only rewatched my favorite scenes on Youtube. But with this voting rounds I remembered a lot of great episodes and storylines. And I realized how long it’s actually been since I started watching OUAT!

There are so many great episodes and great storylines to go back to that can be even more fun the fifth time through than the first and even many of the bad episodes have at least a few good points. Granted there are some frustrations that every fan probably shares during certain storylines… I’m sure I’m not alone in my frequent wondering for what might have been, what could’ve been different and especially what should’ve been different… What would’ve happened if Baelfire had lived? Why was Zelena so powerful at birth when neither of her parents were even practicing magic at the time (cough should’ve been Rumple’s daughter cough). Did Regina join the heroes to soon for the overall longevity of the show? Should Belle have stayed locked up in the basement for a few more seasons if the writers didn’t know how to write for her? Why did we need to have Lily again? Did Arthur have to be a bad guy? Can’t we ever have two people in conflict and have both of them be good people who want different things? Must every villain be redeemed and/or have a tragic backstory?
sorry I’m rambling on and on here. It’s just that when I look at each individual character now that the show has in a way wrapped up, I can’t help thinking how each ones story could have been so much better and I know the writers had no way of knowing how long the show would run, but still…. Just still.
Anyway back to the point… rewatching can be great fun and I do recommend it to anyone who hasn’t done it in a while. If I hadn’t rewatched the whole series recently then I might not have voted for anything past season three at all.
June 19, 2017 at 6:39 pm #339657AKAParticipantWow that was hard, I seem to know what my top 4 are but it is hard to decide the other 6 because you have to debate within yourself which one should get your vote.
I agree with bibliophile that a re watch is worth our time especially the first three seasons. My question has always been what if we had kept some of the characters that we threw away so easily how would that have changed the show and would it have brought some new energy, I am thinking like Merlin, Hades, Mr. Hyde or used barely used characters in a more productive way Leroy, Jefferson (I know he had better things), Grace, Archie, Nova, etc. Instead of Henry having a relationship with a girl we did not know and really did not care about how about Grace which could have been built as a slow friendship and small crush. I think that would have been better. Merlin was a very charismatic character and I think OUAT could have done SO much with him if they kept him around the same with Hades and Hyde.

It did better in Season 1 and 2 when it gave some episodes to side characters and they reentered the plot at times again. The characters actually had friends outside of the family. The way they just have random people show up at times is really silly. Like when the characters had to drink that drink to save Snow and Charming. There were just random extras in the scene. The town just doesn’t really feel peopled.
I am not sure if i could rewatch at this point. There is just too much bad in some of the later seasons. I sometimes think i need to rewatch 5B because i know i didn’t watch it very well. I think there were even parts of episodes that i just completely missed. 5A was so bad that a had very little interest. I think 6A was an interesting start, but once again nothing interesting came of it. They started interesting arcs and just did nothing with them and the end had no real connection to the beginning, so 6B was just so boring. That is the problem. The show is boring now.

I’ve done whole and partial rewatches with several friends and it’s a ton of fun. You see things from a completely different perspective knowing things now that you didn’t then, plus I enjoy seeing people’s reactions to twists I’d forgotten were so good – especially in S1 – S3A.

Yes, that could have been easily explained if Jonathan had been a wizard or something.
Merlin was a very charismatic character and I think OUAT could have done SO much with him if they kept him around the same with Hades and Hyde.
Agree. Agree. Agree. Merlin was built up as this all-powerful good and then….he dies relatively easy.
June 19, 2017 at 7:58 pm #339661ry4christParticipantHow would people feel about ending the Round 5 Poll tomorrow – Tuesday – at 7 PM Central instead of Wednesday? We would go back to rounds lasting 48 hours here on out. I don’t want to rush people and I’m very much enjoying this, but 17 people have already voted in 1 day and I don’t want to unnecessarily drag things out.
June 20, 2017 at 8:27 am #339671ry4christParticipantIf there are no objections to ending the Round 5 Poll tonight as mentioned in my previous post, I will do that.

I feel like we should should revisit some of the old episode threads from S1 – S3 with the knowledge we have now of what certain twists were, what certain things mean… Might be fun to see what we used to think and guess and see how close people came and how our feeling about certain episodes have changed since then.
