The White Rabbit is only minor in Alice in Wonderland so who’s to say what sort of twist the show will put on that character.

I rewatched the episode recently and saw that there are some tea cups and a kettle in his kitchen together with the “Hatter” sign. The March Hare was the one having the tea party with the Mad Hatter in Wonderland. His behavior in “Tallahassee” also showed some signs of being slightly crazy.He also seems to collect microphones and loudspeakers, which put him back to the role of the White Rabbit as the Queen of Hearts herald. Another Wonderland clue may be the key behind his little bowling statue and the somewhat key shaped ornaments on his desk.
As so many others, I theorized that it was Neal’s heart in the box. We know now, that a heart can be put back in. What if August traded Neal his heart for leaving Emma. When August opens his box, there seems to be a faint red glow on his hand, of course that could just be the lighting of the scene.
This could also be the reason for the total transformation we see in him from a petty thief in “Tallahassee” to his new self in “Broken”. When he got his heart back he became whole again and turned his life around. He also asked August to send word when Emma had fullfilled her destiny of breaking the curse so he could perhaps come back to his love. I always thought that the march hare is a combination of the push bunny of paige and paige herself, always wanna have a tea party, but your theory is interesting, Chris.

It would be kinda cute/weird/awkward if Neal was any character from Alice in Wonderland since that was a book Emma actually read. heh. Ya know, instead of just knowing about… she’d actually read the book. And then wow, her babydaddy is really a rabbit? Weird. And then they could have weird perverted jokes (since Neal might be a pervert) about how Emma always thought they did it like rabbits because they were young and in love but in reality it’s because… Neal is a rabbit.
Why not, after all we had already our “sword fight”, why not Rabbit jokes.

Also, we now know with Billy (RIP Gus Gus :()…that characters that were once animals can be human in our world. 😉
Maybe with Gus Gus they were setting up the animal–>human rule for something later in the season? Like the White Rabbit?
And yeah, I’ve heard the theories that Neal’s heart is in the box. They’re really cool. Doesn’t August say something to that effect: like, “after I show you what’s in the box, you will listen to every word I say.” Which, at least to me, sounds kinda sinister…like Neal would see what was in the box he would be completely spell-bound and under August’s control.
Maybe Cora turn Bae into a Rabbit for a while, or Jeff has a powder to turn him to a white Rabbit to hide him in his hat.
I hope it will not be Bae’s heart,. I do not like August and the Blue Fairy in the moment, but if there really Bae’s heart in there I will hate them. I mean the Blue Fairy could prevent the course 300 years ago, when she give the magic tree to Rumpelstiltskin. She should have known how desperate he was and August steal money and say he is the guardian angel. 👿

Maybe Henry Sr. Is actually the white rabbit and Cora kidnaps him and does something similar to what Regina did to the huntsman and if Henry is ever late Cora will crush his heart. This could explain why he hates being late for the queen.
That would only works, when he has made her a little angry before Regina steal the heart of him. Because he appears as Henry when Regina trick the Mad Hatter, so at this time he was already only the heart.
So Sr. Henry would be more the jack of hearts, who has nothing to say by Disneys Alice in Wonderland. Only follow the queen and ask for small things.
