ModeratorThis show is no stranger to some of the most baffling and dumbest plot devices. Whether they be objects or people entirely. Let’s discuss some. I’ll start naming a few:
1. Blue Fairy in general.
2. Tamara’s magic taser.
3. Pegasus Sail that can conveniently travel to other realms that Hook burns just because?
4. Vault of the Dark One with magic goo.
5. The Black Fairy’s wand.
6. Neal’s coconut that can trap a shadow, and a shadow can even burn away while its set on fire!

ParticipantGreg and Tamra in general!’ Their whole story was a plot device to get everyone to Neverland.
You know, the taser didn’t bother me…probably because I had never seen a taser before and didn’t recognize it as a real world item! I thought it was some devise created by the home office that deactivated magic- hence why it affected August…without magic, he’s just wood.

8. Vault of the Dark One
I do hope they tie both of those together, for me they fit quite nicely

ParticipantThe Black Fairy’s wand
The fact that Blue had this on her person (considering that she should have had NO magical items after the curse, let alone one that was hidden in her convent) was espeicially suspicious. One could make the argument that she got the supplies to make the memory potion in S2 from Golds shop, which would make sense, but how could have had the wand hidden if she had no memories or knowledge of magic? I had. big problem with this >_>

I recently saw a tumbler meta that tied Walsh to fairies & Oz, as well as the blue fairy to Oz…. (blue, green & black fairies were mentioned off memory)- will see if I can locate it & post here.

SpectatorBlue, Black Fairy, and Zelena
The Blue Fairy’s background has driven me crazy for a long time now. Every single character has a back story except for her. With the introduction of Oz, I suddenly had a whole bunch of light bulbs go off in my head, but there were still missing pieces that didn’t make sense. I decided to try to find out more information on “The Black Fairy” that has been mentioned on Once, and came across some startling information:
The first known mention of the black fairy was in 1566, during an interview in which a man named-wait for it-John WALSH, who was being accused of Witchcraft. He confessed that:
– He uses the fairies, (found in fairy mounds and invoked at noon or midnight) to aid him in his work. He warns that there are “iii. kindes of Feries, white, greene, & black,” but that “the blacke Feries be the woorst.” (Zelena tells Regina to meet her on main street at “midnight.”)
-Confesses to keeping a familiar that belonged to his Master, Robert Draitons. The familiar would appear to Walsh in the forms of a culver (pigeon), a dog, and a man with cloven feet. Evidently the familiar does not appear to Walsh anymore. He also confessed that his first form of payment to his familiar was a drop of blood. After this time he would give his familiar two living creatures once a year as payment; the creatures included a chicken, a cat, and a dog. (A drop of blood. Just like the flying monkey Walsh took from Regina. Just like Zelena took from Rumpel to open his safe.)
Another account says: He admitted to having his master’s familiar in the shape of a dog, man, etc. for a few years, he gave it a drop of his blood, he said they have no purpose but retrieving stolen items, he could make men and women sick by making wax figurines of them, also had a ceremony that could kill people he wished, said he never used them however. (Retrieving items like Zelena retrieved Charming’s sword?)
-John Walsh confesses to using frankincense, Saint John’s wort, and burning candles to call upon his familiar, which he instructs to send messages and return at an appointed hour. (Remember the candle that Cora disguised as Blue gave to whisper a name to trade one life for another? Yeah. Also, we now have Lumiere.)
-John Walsh confesses to using one of his Masters books and two wax candles to call familiar spirits to him; Walsh would ask the spirits questions, and gather information on bewitched people. (And we’re back to the candle and Lumiere.)
-John Walsh describes how to make wax pictures, pictures of clay, and a toad in order to cause harm to people. The wax pictures would make a person sick for two years, while the clay pictures would kill a person within nine days. The clay pictures were made with the earth of a new grave, the rib bone of a burned man or woman, a black spider, and the pith of an elder tree, with everything being tempered in water.
-John Walsh confesses to practicing physic and surgery for the five years since his master Robert Dreiton died. (Possible relation to Whale?)
-So from all of that, I think it’s safe to conclude that Walsh is the Wizard. The fairies have a connection to the Wizard and Oz. Is it possible that Walsh the one really calling the shots? Or could he be following Zelena around in monkey form so she doesn’t know he’s the wizard because he has his own agenda? Did she return from training with Rumple and turn him into a monkey to make him her slave?
-Coincidence or not, the woman who continued writing Oz books after Baum’s death was named “Ruth” just like Charming’s mother.
-In continuing my research of Oz I came across this little gem:
Abatha the Good Witch of the East is the title character in Eric Shanower’s graphic novel, The Blue Witch of Oz. She fell under a spell during a custody battle with her brother-in-law over custody of her son. The spell causes her to be frozen in time. (Abatha means “three” in Zulu, I’m not sure what the significance of that could be, but maybe one of you will?)
I’m literally laughing out loud right now. Why you ask? I had noticed that the Blue fairy only helps children. She helped Archie because she wanted him to be able to help a young Geppetto. She gave Baelfire the last bean so that he could escape dark magic with his father. She helped turn Pinocchio into a real boy, then helped him escape in the wardrobe, and later turned adult August back into little boy Pinocchio. When Cora impersonated her, it was to go to young Snow. Blue also shared the information of the wardrobe to save baby Emma. I had been speculating that the loss of a child was what caused some of her bitterness, as well as the desire to help children. And she’s clearly frozen in time. However, I’m not coming up with much in terms of who her child would be. Maybe an adopted child?
I’m guessing you “become” a fairy, and you aren’t born as one. The fairies clearly aren’t allowed to have relationships, so they aren’t exactly reproducing. Unless the tulips are “birthing” the fairies, I’m guessing you have to join the ranks of fairy like nuns would have to join a convent. You’d have to give up everything. And in this sense Blue shields herself from a relationship and never having to go through the loss of losing another child. We also see that the Blue Fairy never makes herself normal size like the other fairies do. The only time she puts her wings away is when she’s in the clouds with Nova.
Remember when young Bae makes a wish and Blue appears. After a few seconds she gets a worried look on her face because she can tell the child has already been exposed to dark magic. When Tinkerbell wants to help Regina, Blue flips out on her. Clearly Blue did NOT have a pleasant experience with dark magic.
If Blue was from Oz, and the Wizard was into dark magic, that could be the link to Blue having such issues with it.
The final piece of the puzzle I’m trying to solve, is that through numerous interviews we know that the Wicked Witch has more of an international/global agenda. What exactly does that mean? Is it a whole new meaning to “going green?” or is she after multiple people in multiple realms? Or is Walsh that really has the global agenda and is using Zelena to accomplish it? Could Walsh be the Blue Fairy’s son whom she lost to dark magic? Could Walsh be her brother and law that took custody of her son away? What role does Glinda play in all of this?
My mind is racing with questions, but I have a very good feeling we will know on Sunday, as both the Blue Fairy and Walsh will be back, and we will see Zelena and the wizard in Oz, and her leaving to train with the Dark One.This is from the link above and actually is quite good I think 🙂
