My theory is that Mulan isn’t really in love with Philip. She’s in love with Captain Li Shang. Shang was either killed in battle or taken away by the Curse. Separated from her true love, Mulan projected her feelings for Shang onto Philip, who is also a brave warrior and shares many of Shang’s best characteristics.
[adrotate group="5"]That’s a really good guess. I think Mulan allowed her own fear of rejection to overcome her belief in love, which is why she said that line to Neal in 3×1.

Maybe Shang died before Mulan could tell him how she felt and now she wants a “second chance” with Philip.
I mentioned this in another thread too, but I think that Mulan’s reaction shots to Neal’s situation were very telling, so I wonder if we’re gonna hear a bit about the history of her own love story in the near future.

Keeper of FelixI actually think Mulan might be. I think she’s come to see Aurora as more than a simpering little princess. I think they have mutual respect and admiration for each other, but they’re content with the way things are. Also Jamie and Sarah are both on new shows that require them to be elsewhere so there’ll be no exploration of this very far
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"I would guess either Mulan or Ariel is gay. Tinkerbell having a Regina backstory makes me think not her, any sort of connection between Regina and a lesbian character would throw gas on the SwanQueen fire that they probably want to avoid.
Jamie Chung’s future on the show seems unpredictable, so I’d guess they go Ariel. Grew up along lots of other female mermaids, etc.
After the hints dropped at NYCC, I’m wondering if this scene we’re gonna get between Mulan and Aurora in 303 might be Mulan confessing that she has feelings for her. It would be a good follow up to her having looked so thoughtful about it when she was pointing out to Neal that his belief in love wasn’t strong enough to overcome his fear of rejection. Mulan knows that Aurora’s true love is Phillip, but regardless, she has to let her know how she feels.
