    There have been a lot of theories on who Dr. Whale is. My sister and I came up with a theory for Episode 5: The Doctor last night that seems really correct. Our theory is tied up with the belief that Dr. Whale is Frankenstein’s monster! For example, the first movie about Frankenstein was directed by a man named James Whale. Dr. Whale seems like a womanizer, sinister, and manipulative. Regina has put every evil person who was an ally with her in some position of power, so Dr. Whale must be a villian. There have been some recent pictures of him with his arm missing and wrapped around a green-screen sheet. It’s possible that Episode 5: The Doctor might go something like this;

    Dr. Whale used to be Dr. Frankenstein’s monster from Mary Shelley’s book . His creator, Dr. Frankenstein, was a very evil man and created Dr. Whale for Frankenstein’s own specific purposes. Dr. Whale could have killed his creator and then went on to be allies with Regina. And now that the curse is broken and magic is in town, he could be turning back into the monster he used to be. Dr. Whale then goes to Rumple for help on finding a way to stay human. Dr. Whale doesn’t want to turn back into the monster he used to be.

    I thought maybe they might do a type of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde thing (like he was the scientist and he turned himself into a monster), but they already did that in Ruby’s story (she’s Red Riding Hood and a werewolf.) Episode 5: The Doctor will premiere around Halloween so this makes perfect sense for Dr. Whale to be turning into a monster. What do you guys think on this theory? This theory might be way off, but it makes a lot of sense. 😀

    I like the Frankenstein theory. My friend, GoldenKey and I have a similar theory, with DrWhale as Dr Victor Frankenstein, Daniel as the ‘Monster’. We have been ‘reasearching’ clues connecting Dr Whale/Dr Frankenstein for over a month. Most notably, the the 2×02 promo. Not to mention the quote from the fim Extreme Measures “I’m a hell of a doctor, huh?”….also spoken by DrWhale in 1×06. The Damon Lindelof/Prometheus connection…the Schumacher connection…Archie’s notes…and they are ones just off the top of my head…I know I’m forgetting a few. We found a ton of connections supporting the Frankie theory.

    Good work Gypsy and GoldenKey, the theory of yours seems all the more credible after looking at frames from the 2×02 promo.

    Thanks Mike, that’s awfully nice of you to say 🙂 I still don’t trust the promos though! LOL!
