THEORY : Why would RUMPLE / GOLD want to take over the world?

I have been thinking about this since DAIRY QUEEN made the bargain with Rumple … she gets Storybrook and Gold get the rest of the world.
GOLD did not like NEW YORK when he was there … He does not like people …. He get cranky when everyone comes to him for deals. I do not think he wants to rule the world without magic. I think that is what DQ thinks he wants but I think he is playing cagey to find out what she is up to … then he will do what he always does and double cross DQ.

.[adrotate group="5"]I dont think Rump would want to takeover the world either,it just doesn’t seem like something he’d want. For now, in going to assume that hr is doing all he can to be free if the dagger and once free he plans to dispose of DQ and would have even set Emma free from the hat, hopefully once he got what he wanted. I’m trying to hold hope for Rump but idk anymore. All in all, if A&E are genueinely trying to sell to me that Rump is actually even interested in being king of the land for one second, they fail at life. He is power hungry but him being power hungry always was for a reason, first he wanted to get his son back, now he wants to be free of the dagger. If they try to actually make Rumo takeover the world just because he can, id be so done with him as a character.

Well in fairness, he never said any such thing. Ingrid assumed that’s what he wanted, and he just didn’t bother to correct her. I think he’s just not ready to tip his hand quite yet. IDK what he really wants, but she made it real easy for him to hide by assuming that she had him all figured out.

On the one hand, I want to believe that, but after Rumple tried to kill Emma, that doesn’t make as much sense to me. Would clever Rumple be so daft as to try and resurrect his son by killing the mother of Neal’s child? Neal would never ever be able to forgive his father. Neal probably is spinning in his grave over Rumple attempting to murder the woman whom Neal died to protect. Rumple knew better than to try and murder Henry after he found out Neal was alive in Neverland. But Rumple seemed surprised that his son didn’t trust him, though Rumple had previously chosen the power of the dagger over his son and attempted to murder his own grandson. While Rumple did eventually sacrifice himself to save his loved ones and chose his son over his dagger in 3×15, now it seems like Neal’s initial mistrust of his father was well justified after Rumple attempted to murder the woman Neal loved. Rumple is getting worse in his pursuit of power, though I admit, I still don’t want to believe he wants absolute power just for power’s sake.
